Dr Hoffman commits himself to destabilize all the givens in the ‘Enlightenment’ civilization of Desiderio by breaking the spatial and temporal moulds and demarcations and by destroying all the symmetries in its logocentric thinking. He aims to create a civilization without the chains and structures of reason in an alternative site of existence filled with mirages and elements of phantasy. Against the backdrop of the problematic relation of reason to unreason, he interrogates the nature and function of the rational acts. Proposing another mode of consciousness, Dr Hoffman indulges in a Cartesian thought experiment in a subversive fashion and rethinks a fundamental Cartesian problematic: the ontological status of reality and identity, thus, the disjunction between imaginary and symbolic registers. This essay aims to give a Lacanian hearing to Hoffman’s project which makes more sense from a Lacanian vantage point as he tries to open a gap in the symbolic register or create a disastrous disturbance in it, and tries to delete or distort the place of the shared Other, by creating a domain outside symbolization through imaginary distortions. 1

For the specified purpose, firstly, Students’ Perception of 21st Century Learning Practices instrument was validated for Turkish middle school students. Then, students’ perceptions were examined in terms of learning processes for 21th century learning (i.e. self-directed learning, collabor...
Experimental design and statistical modeling methodology for wind tunnel aerodynamics of an agile missile to improve the simulation accuracy and performance

© 2018, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.Wind tunnel testing is an essential procedure to investigate the aerodynamics forces and moments. In this paper, a methodology is presented to perform such test in an efficient way. Experimental design process is carried out before the testing in order to cover the flight regime as much as possible with the least possible number of tests. After the determination of the test matrix and conducting the wind-on tests, the ...
Computational modelling and analysis of porous bleed holes at supersonic speeds

© 2020, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.Shock Wave / Boundary Layer Interaction is an important issue that should be taken into account when studying inlet design. Bleed holes have traditionally been used to remove the lower momentum part of the boundary layer to avoid separation from adverse Shock Wave / Boundary Layer Interaction. In this study, modeling of porous bleed holes investigated in computational fluid dynamics on a flat plate with and without an ...
Deformation Classification of Real Non-singular Cubic Threefolds with a Marked Line
Finashin, Sergey (2018-12-19)
© 2019, Institute for Mathematical Sciences (IMS), Stony Brook University, NY. We prove that the space of pairs (X, l) formed by a real non-singular cubic hypersurface X⊂ P 4 with a real line l⊂ X has 18 connected components and give for them several quite explicit interpretations. The first one relates these components to the orbits of the monodromy action on the set of connected components of the Fano surface F R (X) formed by real lines on X. For another interpretation we associate with each of the 18 co...
Noise prediction of a transonic cavity flow via shear-layer-adapted delayed detached-eddy simulation

All rights reserved. An open cavity flow contains a highly turbulent shear layer which separates from the upstream edge and impinges on the aft wall of the cavity, causing intense noise emission. In this study, a delayed detached-eddy simulation (DDES) with the use of "shear-layer-adapted" subgrid length scale, an enhancement of DDES available in literature, is conducted for such an open cavity flow problem. The results show that this len...
