In this work, we propose a new representation for articulated shapes, which does not involve extracting shape components. We first form a high -dimensional feature space by collecting local shape information from each shape point and then perform data analysis to measure the distinctness of each shape point from the remaining points. The obtained distinctness values encode both local and global shape information. We represent shapes via histograms of the distinctness values computed via multiple shape scales.

Scalar waves in spacetimes with closed timelike curves

The existence and -if exists- the nature of the solutions of the scalar wave equation in spacetimes with closed timelike curves are investigated. The general properties of the solutions on some class of spacetimes are obtained. Global monochromatic solutions of the scalar wave equation are obtained in flat wormholes of dimensions 2+1 and 3+1. In algebraic topology, the Mayer Vietoris sequence is a powerful tool which allows one to study the homology groups of a given space in terms of simpler homology groups of its subspaces.
