Geochemical Characteristics of Bottom Sediments from Munzur and Pülümür Streams Feeding Uzunçayır Dam (Tunceli) and Potential Risks on Water Chemistry
Çimen, Okay; Toksoy Köksal, Fatma; Örgün, Yüksel; Öztüfekçi-önal, Ayten (2012-04-06)
Uzunçayır dam in Tunceli is fed by Munzur and Pülümür streams. In areas where these streams run, Paleozoic metamorphic rocks (schist, marble, meta-clastic, meta-basic), serpentinized Upper Cretaceous chromite bearing ultramafics in assemblage with other ophiolitic rocks and limestones, Oligo-Miocene flysch sediments, Late Miocene volcanics with interlayered pyroclastic and lacustrine sediments are present. In the area, copper, lead and zinc mineralizations also exist. Therefore, geochemical effe...
Geotechnical characterization and rock mass classification of the Antalya karstic rock masses
Sopacı, Evrim; Akgün, Haluk; Department of Geological Engineering (2012)
This thesis identifies the geotechnical parameters of the Antalya karstic foundation rocks (travertine/tufa), which are highly variable in nature, by means of geological observations, geotechnical site investigations, and field and laboratory geomechanics tests to examine karstic (mainly tufa) rock mass behavior. Several geotechnical parameters such as porosity, seismic wave velocity, uniaxial compressive strength, Young’s modulus, tensile strength, etc. that are thought to have significant influence on roc...
GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF GRANITOIDS ALONG THE WESTERN MARGIN OF THE CENTRAL ANATOLIAN CRYSTALLINE COMPLEX AND THEIR TECTONIC IMPLICATIONS
AKIMAN, O; ERLER, A; GONCUOGLU, MC; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan; GEVEN, A; TURELI, TK; KADIOGLU, YK (1993-12-01)
The closely related assemblage of igneous and metamorphic rocks that lie within a triangular area approximately bounded by the Tuzgolu Fault, the Ecemis Fault and the Izmir-Ankara-Erzincan Suture and between the lines connecting Ankara, Sivas and Nigde is called the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex (CACC). The granitoids cropping out within the CACC can be divided areally into three groups: (1) a large number of individual small plutons which form an arcuate set and curve from NE-SW to NW-SE and extend...
Geotechnical Properties and Permeability of Compacted Clay in the Gölbaşı Region Ankara
Akgün, Haluk (null; 2016-04-06)
This study evaluated the geotechnical properties and permeability of compacted clayey foundation soils in the Gölbaşı region of Ankara to determine their suitability as a compacted landfill liner material. The results of the tests showed that the clay was suitable to be used as a compacted clay landfill liner material.
