Effect of H2O and SO2 on the activity of Pd/TiO2 catalysts in catalytic reduction of NO with methane in the presence of oxygen
MITOME, Junko; Karakaş, Gürkan; Bryan, Kimberly A.; Ozkan, Umit S. (1998-06-18)
Effect of H2O and SO2 on the NO reduction activity of the Pd/titania catalysts was examined in the NO+CH4+O-2 reaction. Steady-state and transient response experiments were performed using a tubular flow reactor. Isotopically labeled methane, (CH4)-C-13, was used in studying the transient behavior of the catalytic system. Reactor effluents were analyzed by using gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and chemiluminescense techniques. Steady-state reaction experiments showed that the catalyst has a high acti...
Effect of Alkyl Derivatization on Several Properties of N-Halamine Antimicrobial Siloxane Coatings
Kocer, Hasan B.; Akdağ, Akın; Ren, Xuehong; Broughton, R. M.; Worley, S. D.; Huang, T. S. (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2008-10-01)
Variation of alkyl substitution at position 5 on the hydantoin ring of a series of N-halamine siloxane derivatives has been employed to better understand the biocidal activities of these compounds for use in preparing antimicrobial coatings. The alkyl derivatization of the hydantoin ring at its 5 position, while an essentially constant chlorine loading is maintained at the I position, has shown that there is little dependence of the antimicrobial efficacy against Escherichia coli O157:H7 on the alkyl chain ...
Effect of sodium carbonate on carbothermic formation of hexagonal boron nitride
Akyıldız, Uğur; Sevinç, Naci; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2010)
Effect of Na2CO3 on formation of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) by carbothermic method has been studied by subjecting B2O3-C and Na2CO3-added B2O3-C mixtures to N2 (g) atmosphere. Na2CO3 amount in the mixtures was changed in the range of 0-40 wt. %. Time and temperature were used as experimental variables. Reaction products were analyzed by XRD and scanning electron microscope. Na2CO3 was found to increase both the amount and the particle size of h-BN similar to CaCO3 [1]. Na2CO3 was found to be less effect...
Preparation of BaxSr1-xTiO3 thin films by chemical solution deposition and their electrical characterization
Adem, Umut; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2003)
In this study, barium strontium titanate (BST) thin films with different compositions (Ba0.9Sr0.1TiO3, Ba0.8Sr0.2TiO3, Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3, Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3) were produced by chemical solution deposition technique. BST solutions were prepared by dissolving barium acetate, strontium acetate and titanium isopropoxide in acetic acid and adding ethylene glycol as a chelating agent and stabilizer to this solution, at molar ratio of acetic acid/ethylene glycol, 3:1. The solution was then coated on Si and Pt//Ti/SiO2/Si ...
Effect of Oxygen Tension and Medium Components on Monomer Distribution of Alginate
Moral, Cigdem Kivilcimdan; Doğan, Özdemir; Sanin, Faika Dilek (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2015-06-01)
Alginate is a natural biopolymer composed of mannuronic and guluronic acid monomers. It is produced by algae and some species of Azotobacter and Pseudomonas. This study aims to investigate the effect of dissolved oxygen tension (DOT) and growth medium substrate and calcium concentrations on the monomeric composition of alginate produced by Azotobacter vinelandii ATCCA (R) 9046 in a fermenter. Results showed that alginate production increased with increasing DOT from 1 to 5 %. The highest alginate production...
