This book aims to thoroughly discuss new directions of thinking in the arena of environmental archaeology and test them by presenting new practical applications. Recent theoretical and epistemological advancement in the field of archaeology calls for a re-definition of the subdiscipline of environmental archaeology and its position within the practise of archaeology. New technological and methodological discoveries in hard sciences and computer applications opened fresh ways for interdisciplinary collaborations thus introducing new branches and specialisations that need now to be accommodated and integrated within the previous status-quo. This edited volume will take the challenge and engage with contemporary international discussions about the role of the discipline within the general framework of archaeology. By drawing upon these debates, the contributors to this volume will rethink what environmental archaeology is and what kind of input the investigation of this kind of materiality has to the reconstruction of human history and sociality.

Environmental Researchers' Data Practices: An Exploratory Study in Turkey
Allard, Suzie; Aydınoğlu, Arsev Umur (2012-01-01)
This qualitative exploratory study probes the knowledge and attitudes of information science and environmental researchers in Turkey towards scientific data and information particularly in regards to sharing and preservation. Ten environmental scientists and two information scientists were interviewed. Results reveal that research data is stored mostly on personal computers. This raises two issues: organizational and technological sustainability. Environmental scientists in Turkey do not engage in data-inte...
Experience reflection modelling as a generative research method in an educational case for sustainable product design
Turhan, Senem; Doğan, Çağla (2014-01-01)
A generative research method, namely Experience Reflection Modelling (ERM), has been developed aimed at helping students explore and reflect upon design considerations for sustainability in the idea generation phase of a design process. ERM has been integrated into a product design for sustainability project as part of the design education in the Department of Industrial Design at Middle East Technical University. This paper begins by providing an overview of the generative research approach, explaining its...
Optical Tactics for Spatial Justice in the Works of Forensic Architecture and Hito Steyerl
Regularity and stochasticity of nonlinear dynamical systems
Akhmet, Marat (Springer, 2017-06-01)
This book presents recent developments in nonlinear dynamics and physics with an emphasis on complex systems. The contributors provide recent theoretic developments and new techniques to solve nonlinear dynamical systems and help readers understand complexity, stochasticity, and regularity in nonlinear dynamical systems. This book covers integro-differential equation solvability, Poincare recurrences in ergodic systems, orientable horseshoe structure, analytical routes of periodic motions to chaos, grazing ...
