Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.Meso-substituted borondipyrromethene (BODIPY)-porphyrin compounds that include free base porphyrin with two different numbers of BODIPY groups (BDP-TTP and 3BDP-TTP) were designed and synthesized to analyze intramolecular energy transfer mechanisms of meso-substituted BODIPY-porphyrin dyads and the effect of the different numbers of BODIPY groups connected to free-base porphyrin on the energy transfer mechanism. Absorption spectra of BODIPY-porphyrin conjugates showed wide absorption features in the visible region, and that is highly valuable to increase light-harvesting efficiency. Fluorescence spectra of the studied compounds proved that BODIPY emission intensity decreased upon the photoexcitation of the BODIPY core, due to the energy transfer from BODIPY unit to porphyrin. In addition, ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy measurements indicated that the energy transfer of the 3BDP-TTP compound (about 3 ps) is faster than the BDP-TTP compound (about 22 ps). Since the BODIPY core directly binds to the porphyrin unit, rapid energy transfer was seen for both compounds. Thus, the energy transfer rate increased with an increasing number of BODIPY moiety connected to free-base porphyrin.

Nanostructured modifications of titanium surfaces improve vascular regenerative properties of exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells: Preliminary in vitro results

However, the success of the long-term application is limited by an insufficient endothelialization of the material surface. Nanostructured modifications of metal scaffolds represent a promising approach to faster biomaterial osteointegration through increasing of endothelial commitment of the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). Activity-Based Photosensitizers with Optimized Triplet State Characteristics Toward Cancer Cell Selective and Image Guided Photodynamic Therapy
Kilic, Eda; ELMAZOĞLU, ZÜBEYİR; Almammadov, Toghrul; KEPİL, DİLAY; Etienne, Thibaud; Marıon, Antoıne; Günbaş, Emrullah Görkem; Kolemen, Safacan (2022-01-01)
© 2022 The Authors. Published by American Chemical Society.Activity-based theranostic photosensitizers are highly attractive in photodynamic therapy as they offer enhanced therapeutic outcome on cancer cells with an imaging opportunity at the same time. However, photosensitizers (PS) cores that can be easily converted to activity-based photosensitizers (aPSs) are still quite limited in the literature. In this study, we modified the dicyanomethylene-4H-chromene (DCM) core with a heavy iodine atom to get two ...
Techno-economic comparative analysis of renewable energy systems: Case study in Zimbabwe
Al-Ghussain, Loiy; Samu, Remember; Taylan, Onur; Fahrioglu, Murat (2020-09-01)
© 2020 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.Fluctuations in fossil fuel prices significantly affect the economies of countries, especially oil-importing countries, hence these countries are thoroughly investigating the increase in the utilization of renewable energy resources as it is abundant and locally available in all the countries despite challenges. Renewable energy systems (RES) such as solar and wind systems offer suitable alternatives for fossil fuels and could ensure the energy securi...
Multi objective optimization of water jet guided laser micro drilling on Inconel 718 using Taguchi Method
Subasi, Levent; Gökler, Mustafa İlhan; Yaman, Ulaş (2020-01-01)
© 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.Water jet guided laser overcomes the adverse effects of conventional laser cutting and drilling processes, such as heat-affected-zone, spatter, burr formation, etc. Pressurized water in this novel process provides focusing, cooling and cleaning on the cut region, eliminating undesired side effects of the laser. The process is nowadays used in energy and aerospace industries for drilling micro cooling holes on turbine blades made of super alloys. However, more re...
Heavy Z′ bosons in the secluded U(1) ′ model at hadron colliders
Frank, Mariana; Selbuz, Levent; Turan, İsmail (2021-05-01)
© 2021, The Author(s).We study Z′ phenomenology at hadron colliders in an U(1) ′ extended MSSM. We choose a U(1) ′ model with a secluded sector, where the tension between the electroweak scale and developing a large enough mass for Z′ is resolved by incorporating three additional singlet superfields into the model. We perform a detailed analysis of the production, followed by decays, including into supersymmetric particles, of a Z′ boson with mass between 4 and 5.2 TeV, with particular emphasis on its possi...
