Published by Elsevier B.V.Water jet guided laser overcomes the adverse effects of conventional laser cutting and drilling processes, such as heat-affected-zone, spatter, burr formation, etc. Pressurized water in this novel process provides focusing, cooling and cleaning on the cut region, eliminating undesired side effects of the laser. The process is nowadays used in energy and aerospace industries for drilling micro cooling holes on turbine blades made of super alloys. However, more research on the process is required to understand the effects of the variables on cutting time and quality. Optimum conditions differ for various materials and geometries. In this study, a multi objective optimization is performed in terms of process time and taper of the micro holes drilled on Inconel 718, a commonly used material in gas turbines. Taguchi design of experiment and statistical analysis is used to perform the experiments and evaluate the results.

Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.Fluctuations in fossil fuel prices significantly affect the economies of countries, especially oil-importing countries, hence these countries are thoroughly investigating the increase in the utilization of renewable energy resources as it is abundant and locally available in all the countries despite challenges. Renewable energy systems (RES) such as solar and wind systems offer suitable alternatives for fossil fuels and could ensure the energy securi...

Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.Meso-substituted borondipyrromethene (BODIPY)-porphyrin compounds that include free base porphyrin with two different numbers of BODIPY groups (BDP-TTP and 3BDP-TTP) were designed and synthesized to analyze intramolecular energy transfer mechanisms of meso-substituted BODIPY-porphyrin dyads and the effect of the different numbers of BODIPY groups connected to free-base porphyrin on the energy transfer mechanism. Absorption spectra of BODIPY-porphyrin ...
Transformation from SysML to RePast and Back

© 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.All rights reserved.Applying Model Driven Architecture (MDA) concepts and tools to Multi Agent Systems (MAS) is a topic of great interest in recent years. MDA intends to reduce computer code development effort via model transformations and makes complex systems available and more practical for research. In this work, we propose a model transformation process for a widely used agent-based modeling and simulation tool, RePast Simphony. We adopt SysML for the platf...

However, the success of the long-term application is limited by an insufficient endothelialization of the material surface. Nanostructured modifications of metal scaffolds represent a promising approach to faster biomaterial osteointegration through increasing of endothelial commitment of the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). This is an open access article under the CC BY-NC-ND license ( spaces, being inevitable components of cities, are evolving spaces that transform, expand or shrink. Ideally, they should be publicly-owned and controlled, equally accessible to all, and function in the public interest. As the main actor of public spaces, this research aims to reveal the roles of pedestrians’ behaviour and mobility in making pu...
