Executive Functions (EFs) have a critical role in being healthy, successful, productive, and flexible individuals. EFs show tremendous development through early childhood years; thus, supporting these skills in this period is highly important. This study aims to design, develop, and implement game-based educational systems that support EFs and curriculum-related objectives. E-textile technology has been utilized to develop these games since it enables building bodily interactive games and turning everyday objects into interactive interfaces. In this regard, two types of materials, a non-wearable e-textile material used as a desktop activity and two wearable e-textile materials that interact with three digital games on a tablet PC, were designed and developed. The study was carried out using Design-Based Research (DBR) as the methodology. The research was conducted in two cycles with six ECE teachers and ten preschool children participated in Cycle 1, and three teachers and nine children participated in Cycle 2. Children were video-recorded while engaging with the activities, teachers were interviewed, and the researcher’s design notes were used to answer research questions. The qualifications and limitations of the utilized e-textile technologies and suggestions regarding educational use of these technologies are presented within the scope of the study. The results also indicated design features that might be associated with EFs using children’s performances and gameplay features.

Evaluation Of A Hospital Information System In An International Context: Towards Implementing Pb-Ism In Turkey
Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Baykal, Nazife (WILEY, 111 RIVER ST, HOBOKEN 07030-5774, NJ USA, 2006-12)
High quality information technology (IT) support is an integral factor in the success of today's health sector. However, the medical profession is considered to be low level investors in IT when compared to other sectors. Many international comparisons look at the expenditure spent on health IT as a basis for determining how effective the systems are. This prescriptive mainly cost/benefit approach is believed to be deficient as a sole factor in evaluation procedures. The research in this study supports the ...
Measuring healthcare process quality: Applications in public hospitals in Turkey
Yildiz, Ozkan; Demirörs, Onur (2013-03-01)
Process improvement activities are becoming an essential part of a number of healthcare organizations. As the popularity of process improvement grows, the need for common objective measures is becoming more critical. Numerous quality measures have been suggested to evaluate healthcare quality. However, applications utilizing the existing quality measures mostly focus on the quality of specific diseases, clinics or clinical areas. Although these measures or measurement sets contain structure, process or outp...
A deep learning approach to surface reconstruction for surgical navigation during laparoscopic, endoscopic or robotic surgery
Zabardast, Ami; Mumcuoğlu, Ünal Erkan; Department of Medical Informatics (2019)
Minimally invasive surgical procedures utilize technology to provide surgeons with more functionality as well as a better perspective to help them succeed in their tasks and reduce operations risks. Surgeons usually rely on screens and cameras during minimally invasive surgeries such as Laparoscopic, Endoscopic, or Robotic Surgeries. Currently, operating rooms use information from different modalities such as Computer-Aided Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. However, the information is not integrate...
Investigation of pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs and attitudes toward teaching profession through canonical analysis
Tarkın, Ayşegül; Kondakçı, Esen (2012-03-01)
Bu çalışmanın amacı öğretmen adaylarının özyeterlik inançları ile öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışmaya son sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan 315 öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Veri toplamak için Öğretmen Özyeterlik Ölçeği ve Öğretmenlik Mesleğine Karşı Tutum Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Kanonik korelasyon analizi sonuçları öğrenciyi derse katmaya ve öğretim yöntemlerini kullanmaya dair yüksek özyeterliğe sahip öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğini daha çok sevdiğini gö...
WORKING GROUP ACTIVITIES OF AGARD PROPULSION AND ENERGETICS PANEL
UCER, AS (ASME International; 1994-04-01)
One of the major activities of AGARD panels is to form working groups, which assemble experts who work on the particular subject for two or three years. As a result of the work, an advisory report is published, which compiles the state-of-the-art knowledge on the chosen specific topic. This paper explains the philosophy and procedures adopted during the formation of working groups of the Propulsion and Energetics Panel. Working groups concerning gas turbine technologies are presented. The selected working g...
