Heat and mass transfer modeling of microwave infrared cooking of zucchini based on Lambert law
Yazicioglu, Nalan; Şümnü, Servet Gülüm; Şahin, Serpil (2021-10-01)
In this study, the change in the temperature and moisture content of zucchini cooked in microwave and infrared combination oven were modeled by finite element method. The exact form of Lambert law was used to predict the microwave power. Experimental temperature data at different positions of zucchini and moisture content data were used to verify the models obtained for different microwave (10, 30, and 50%) and infrared power (10, 40, and 70%) combinations for 600 s. Measured data and the model were in good...

Heat removal from a large scale warm water storage
Kayserilioğlu, Yavuz Selim; Oskay, Rüknettin; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2004)
A preliminary experimental study was performed in order to investigate the charging and heat removal characteristics of a sensible heat storage. Two sets of experiments were performed at two aspect ratios. Heat removal processes of these two sets were different while the charging processes were similar. In the first set of experiments, after the charging of the storage unit with relatively warm water was complete, heat removal process was started with simple heat exchangers from different elevations within ...
Heat Distribution within the Wellbore While Drilling
Apak, E. C.; Ozbayoglu, E. M. (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
Analysis of the drilling fluid temperature in a circulating well is the main objective of this study. Initially, different analytical temperature distribution models were studied. Variables that have significant effect on temperature profile are observed. Since the verification of the analytical model is not probable for many cases, a computer program that uses a finite element method is employed to simulate different well conditions. Three different wells are modeled by using rectangular elements with four...
Heat and mass transfer mechanisms in drying of a suspension droplet: A new computational model
Dalmaz, Nesip; Ozbelge, Hilmi Onder; Eraslan, Ahmet Nedim; Uludağ, Yusuf (Informa UK Limited, 2007-01-01)
A new computational single-droplet drying model is presented. The model considers heat and mass transfer simultaneously together with the receding evaporation front approach. A spherical droplet under constant drying conditions is considered. Computations are performed to predict the drying of colloidal silica-water suspension and skimmed milk. It is shown that the results agree well with those of experimental observations available in the literature.
