Cw Raman lasing characteristics of highly nonlinear photonic crystal fibers (PCF) are numerically investigated. The numerical approach is based on a pseudospectral algorithm developed earlier. Different pumping (forward, backward, and bidirectional) configurations are numerically simulated and the resultant efficiencies are shown to be the same under similar conditions. It is shown that the differences arise due to the pump being either single- or double-pass. (c) 2012 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

The Investigation of Electronic, Elastic and Vibrational Properties of an Interlanthanide Perovskite: PrYbO3
KADEROĞLU, ÇAĞIL; SÜRÜCÜ, GÖKHAN; ERKİŞİ, AYTAÇ (2017-10-01)
The structural, mechanical, electronic and lattice dynamical properties of the PrYbO3 compound from the ABO(3)-type perovskite family have been investigated by performing the first-principles density functional theory calculations using the generalized-gradient approximation (GGA) with corrected Coulomb interactions (GGA+U). Structural parameters, formation energies and phase transition pressures for the five possible phases of this compound have been calculated. Then, the spin-dependent electronic band str...
The effect of annealing conditions on the red photoluminescence of nanocrystalline Si/SiO 2 films
Wu, Xiaochun; Bek, Alpan; Bittner, Alexander M.; Eggs, Ch.; Ossadnik, Ch.; VEPREK, S (Elsevier BV, 2003-02-03)
Nanocrystalline Si (nc-Si) embedded in a SiO2 matrix, fabricated by plasma CVD and a subsequent post-treatment shows a broad red photoluminescence (PL). In this paper, the effects of annealing temperature, atmosphere and time on the red PL from 1.75 to 1.5 eV have been investigated in detail. It is found that the spectral shift and the PL intensity from 1.75 to 1.5 eV show a strong and unique dependence on annealing conditions. For a PL approximately 1.75 eV, upon 400 °C forming gas annealing, the spectral ...
The effects of post-annealing process on the physical properties of silver-indium-selenium ternary semiconductor thin films deposited by electron beam technique
Çolakoğlu, Tahir; Parlak, Mehmet; Department of Physics (2009)
Ternary chalcopyrite compounds are the semiconductors with suitable properties to be used as absorber materials in thin film solar cells. AgInSe2 is a promising candidate with its several advantages over the widely used CuInSe2. The purpose of this study was to optimize the physical properties of the Ag-In-Se (AIS) thin films that were deposited by e-beam evaporation of Ag3In5Se9 single crystal powder for solar cell applications by means of post-annealing process under nitrogen atmosphere. The as-grown AIS ...
The effect of substitutional impurities on the evolution of FeAl diffusion layer
Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Mehrabov, Amdulla (Elsevier BV, 1998-2-13)
The formation and growth characteristics of Fe based aluminide diffusion layers at the Fe-Al interface have been analysed in terms of interfacial interaction potentials based on the statistico-thermodynamical theory of multicomponent alloys combined with electronic theory in the pseudopotential approximation. The pairwise interatomic interaction potentials and partial ordering energies have been calculated to predict the effect of various alloying additions on the activity coefficient of Al atoms in α-Fe0.9...
The structural and electronic properties of BN and BP compounds and BNxP1-x alloys
Mohammad, Rezek; Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (Elsevier BV, 2009-06-10)
The structural and electronic properties of BN and BP compounds and BNxP1-x alloys have been investigated by full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method based on density functional theory (DFT). The total energies and electronic band structures of these compounds have been calculated for different approximations of exchange-correlation energy. The comparative study has showed that the Perdew-Wang-generalized gradient approximation (PW-GGA) is the best one to produce the measured structur...
