Polyhedral linkages using Cardan motion along radial axes are synthesized. The resulting single degree-of-freedom linkages are compared with some existing designs. The classification and the transformation characteristics of the linkages are given.

Numerical Solution and Stability Analysis of Transient MHD Duct Flow
Tezer, Münevver (2018-11-01)
This paper simulates the 2D transient magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow in a rectangular duct in terms of the velocity of the fluid and the induced magnetic field by using the radial basis function (RBF) approximation. The inhomogeneities in the Poisson’s type MHD equations are approximated using the polynomial functions (1+r) and the particular solution is found satisfying both the equations and the boundary conditions (no-slip and insulated walls). The Euler scheme is used for advancing the solution to ste...
Free-Vibration Analysis of Ring-Stiffened Branched Composite Shells of Revolution
Kayran, Altan (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2010-4)
Application of the multisegment numerical integration technique is extended to the free-vibration analysis of macroscopically anisotropic filament-wound branched shells of revolution with ring stiffeners, considering the variation of the thickness and winding angle. The solution procedure is based on a modified-frequency trial method, which processes on the numerically integrated transformed fundamental shell equations that are obtained in terms of finite exponential Fourier transform of the fundamental she...
FREE VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS OF COMPOSITE SHELLS OF REVOLUTION WITH VARIABLE STIFFNESS COEFFICIENTS
Kayran, Altan (2008-07-09)
In the present study, the effect of initial winding angle, and the starting edge of the winding operation on the variation of the thickness, stiffness coefficients and undamped free vibration characteristics of filament wound composite shells of revolution are investigated. Filaments are assumed to be placed along the geodesic fiber path on the surface of the shell of revolution resulting in the variation of the stiffness coefficients and thickness along the axis of the composite shell of revolution with ge...
Circumferentially cracked bimaterial hollow cylinder under mechanical and transient thermal loading
Kadıoğlu, Fevzi Suat (Informa UK Limited, 2006-12-01)
The analytical solution for the problem of a circumferential inner surface crack in an elastic, infinitely long composite hollow cylinder, made of two concentric perfectly bonded transversely isotropic cylinders is considered. Uniform axial loading and thermal loading in the form of a sudden cooling on the inner boundary are considered. Out of 10 material parameters involved, two bimaterial parameters and three material parameters for each layer upon which the stress intensity factor depends under uniform l...
Free vibration characteristics of a 3d mixed formulation beam element with force-based consistent mass matrix
Soydas, Ozan; Sarıtaş, Afşin (2017-09-01)
In this analytical study, free vibration analyses of a 3d mixed formulation beam element are performed by adopting force-based consistent mass matrix that incorporates shear and rotary inertia effects. The force-based approach takes into account the actual distribution of mass of an element in the derivation of the mass matrix. Moreover, the force-based approach enables accurate determination of free vibration frequencies of members with varying geometry and material distribution without any need for specif...
