Computer-aided design of horizontal-axis wind turbine blades
Duran, Serhat; Albayrak, Kahraman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
Designing horizontal-axis wind turbine (HAWT) blades to achieve satisfactory levels of performance starts with knowledge of the aerodynamic forces acting on the blades. In this thesis, HAWT blade design is studied from the aspect of aerodynamic view and the basic principles of the aerodynamic behaviors of HAWTs are investigated. Blade-element momentum theory (BEM) known as also strip theory, which is the current mainstay of aerodynamic design and analysis of HAWT blades, is used for HAWT blade design in thi...
COMPUTER-AIDED ANALYSIS OF MICROSTRIP ANTENNAS EMPLOYING PARASITIC ELEMENTS
HAYIRLIOGLU, L; Birand, Mehmet Tuncay (Wiley, 1993-10-01)
The moment method in the spectral domain is used to perform a computer-aided analysis of printed antenna structures employing tuning stubs and electromagnetically coupled patches. Variation of the input VSWR versus frequency is obtained and the radiation patterns are plotted for various antenna configurations. Surface wave coupling effects are investigated. Computer-assisted Design of Diversion Weirs
Yanmaz, Ali Melih (null; 2005-07-12)
A diversion weir is a headwork facility built across a river to raise water level and to divert water for various purposes, such as irrigation, hydropower generation, etc. In this study, a Windows-based, visual, and user friendly program named WINDWEIR is developed in Visual Basic.NET programming language for the optimum design of a diversion weir with sidewise intakes. The methodology used in the program is developed with reference to the design guidelines reported in the literature and in accordance with ...
