Bu çalışma Türkiye’deki bir özel üniversitenin Temel İngilizce Hazırlık Okulunda konuşma dili kullanılarak hazırlanan çoklu ortam sunumlarının öğrencilerin dinleme becerilerini geliştirmelerinde bir etkisi olup olmadığını ve öğrencilerin bu deneyime yönelik bakış açılarını ölçmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Dinleme, birey tarafından geliştirilen ve diğer becerilerin geliştirilmesinde hayati bir önem taşıyan temel beceri olarak görülmektedir (Loren, F. T. A., 2017). Fakat, çoğu ders kitabı dinleme aktivitelerinde kişiselleştirilmiş aktivitelere yer verirken, çoğu sınavda öğrenciler nötr veya resmi tonda dinleme aktivitelerine maruz bırakılmaktadır. Ayrıca, literatürdeki geçmiş çalışmalar Çoklu Ortam Öğrenmesinin Kişiselleştirme İlkesi ile öğrenci başarısının bir ilişkisi olup olmadığı konusunda henüz bir sonuç çizmemiştir. Bu çalışmada, anlatım tonu kişiselleştirme ilkesinin bileşenleri olan dinleyiciye doğrudan hitap etme, 1. ve 2. tekil şahıs zamirleri kullanma ve kibar bir üslup kullanma olarak konuşma diline uygun bir şekilde değiştirilmiştir. Yazar araştırma deseni olarak deneyimlerini benzer araştırmalar için diğer tasarımcılarla paylaşmak ve öğretim çalışmalarına katkıda bulunmak için tasarım durumunu kullanmıştır. Yazarın tecrübelerine göre bu çalışma, dinleme parçaları hazırlanırken ses kalitesini iyileştirmek için farklı araçlar kullanılması gerektiğini önermiştir. Öğrenci başarısı üzerindeki gözlemler ise, kişiselleştirilmiş anlatımın öğrencilerin dinleme becerisi çalışmalarındaki başarılarına ciddi derecede katkı sağladığını göstermiştir.
