A Practical measurement capability model for software organizations utilizing agile approaches
Salmanoğlu, Murat; Demirörs, Onur; Department of Information Systems (2018)
Measurement is the foundation for successful software management. However, it is not easy for software organizations to evaluate their measurement practices and to determine what they should do to improve them. There are models to evaluate capability and maturity of measurement processes. However, they frequently focus on the measurement process with a guidance from a well-defined capability model, like CMMI or SPICE. Many of the software organizations following agile methodologies do not prefer to apply th...
A mashup-based strategy for migration to service-oriented computing
CETIN, Semih; ALTINTAS, N. Ilker; OGUZTUZUN, Halit; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; TUFEKCI, Ozgur; SULOGLU, Selma (2007-07-20)
Service-Oriented Computing holds great promises to realize the vision of on-demand services available anytime and anywhere. It is still not clear, however, when and how the existing systems will benefit from this new wave. The problem is particularly acute for the software embedded in myriad devices. This work charts a roadmap for migration of legacy software to pervasive service-oriented computing. A key idea is to achieve integration even at the presentation layer, not only at backend layers like applicat...
A probabilistic conceptual design and sizing approach for a helicopter
Selvi, Selim; Yavrucuk, İlkay; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2010)
Due to its complex and multidisciplinary nature, the conceptual design phase of helicopters becomes critical in meeting customer satisfaction. Statistical (probabilistic) design methods can be employed to understand the design better and target a design with lower variability. In this thesis, a conceptual design and helicopter sizing methodology is developed and shown on a helicopter design for Turkey.
A game theoretical framework for allocating cost and gas emission responsibilities in a collaborative setting
Altan, Başak; Özener, Okan Örsan (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2020-12)
Global warming poses significant risks to our planet and has a tremendous impact on our daily lives. Unless severe precautions are taken, these adverse effects are most likely to increase drastically and threaten other aspects of our lives and the environment. We consider a shippers’ network in a full-truckload transportation setting. We develop a framework to allocate the resulting cost of this network to the shippers’ while determining the gas emission responsibilities. We conduct a computational ana...
