Ferromagnetic Target Detection and Localization with a Wireless Sensor Network
Antepli, Mehmet Akif; Gurbuz, Sevgi Zubeyde; Uysal, Elif (2010-11-03)
This work attempts to address challenges of using magnetic sensors for target detection, localization and tracking with a wireless sensor network (WSN). A WSN comprised of magnetic sensors was constructed to investigate the modeling, detection, and localization of ferrous targets. The system was established as a centralized tree-based wireless network with a PC acting as the fusion center. A heavy cylindrical iron bar was used as a test target and modeled as a magnetic dipole. The magnetic signal models use...
Fe-, Ni- and Co-induced crystallization of ge thin films fabricated on different substrates for photovoltaic applications
Kabaçelik, İsmail; Kulakcı, Mustafa; Turan, Raşit (null; 2018-07-06)
Metal-induced (Fe-, Ni- and Co-) crystallization of amorphous germanium (a-Ge) thin films were investigated by depositing Ge on c-Si (100) and glass substrates by means of electron beam evaporation. The samples were exposed to post-annealing temperatures of 300, 400 and 500 o C for 1 hour (h). The crystal structure of the Ge films was characterized with a Raman spectrum and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. The Raman spectrum of the samples as-deposited and annealed at a temperature of 300 °C gives broa...
Fe-catalyzed sulfide oxidation in hydrothermal plumes is a source of reactive oxygen species to the ocean
Shaw, Timothy J.; Luther, George W.; Rosas, Richard; Oldham, Veronique E.; Coffey, Nicole R.; Ferry, John L.; Dias, Dewamunnage M. C.; Yücel, Mustafa; de Chanvalon, Aubin Thibault (2021-10-01)
Historically, the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the ocean has been attributed to photochemical and biochemical reactions. However, hydrothermal vents emit globally significant inventories of reduced Fe and S species that should react rapidly with oxygen in bottom water and serve as a heretofore unmeasured source of ROS. Here, we show that the Fe-catalyzed oxidation of reduced sulfur species in hydrothermal vent plumes in the deep oceans supported the abiotic formation of ROS at concentratio...
Ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic properties in layered structures (La0.6Nd0.4Mn2Si2)
Doğan, Ezgi; Emre, B.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2015-06-05)
Temperature dependences of the magnetization (ferromagnetic) and the staggered magnetization (anti-ferromagnetic) are analyzed for various ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AF) phases of the layered structure of La0.6Nd0.4Mn2Si2 using the experimental data at a constant magnetic field of 50 Oe. For this analysis, a mean field model with the quadratic coupling between the magnetization (FM) and the staggered magnetization (AF) is considered and the expressions derived from the mean field model for th...
Fermentation and oxygen transfer characteristics in recombinant human growth hormone production by Pichia pastoris in sorbitol batch and methanol fed-batch operation
Çalık, Pınar; Soyaslan, Elif S.; Sahin, Merve; Taspinar, Hatice; Acik, Eda; Bayraktar, Eda (Wiley, 2010-02-01)
BACKGROUND: The influence of methanol feed rate on recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) production by Pichia pastoris hGH-Mut(+) in medium containing sorbitol was investigated at three different specific growth rates (mu), namely, 0.02 (MS-0.02), 0.03 (MS-0.03), and 0.04 (MS-0.04).
