© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature.Waterjet-guided laser machining is a novel process used for precision cutting and drilling of various materials and geometries. There are many noise factors in the process affecting the laser beam characteristics, namely the effective cutting length and laser power in the waterjet. Although these variables are mainly set by the laser and waterjet parameters, uncontrollable factors result in variations. Prediction methods such as regression or artificial neural networks provide accuracy up to a certain extent. Measuring the exact values of the laser beam characteristics is crucial for process planning and selection of the machining parameters, such as stand-off distance and number of cycles. In this study, two different real-time measurement methods related to image processing and acoustic signal processing are proposed, both of which provide instantaneous readings for the laser beam characteristics in a waterjet-guided laser machine.

Linear and nonlinear optical characteristics of PbMoO4 single crystal for optoelectronic applications
Delice, S.; Isik, M.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2022-10-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature. In the present paper, we studied linear and nonlinear optical properties of lead molybdate (PbMoO4) single crystals grown by Czochralski method. Raman measurement was performed in the range of 50–1000 cm−1 and 11 active vibration modes were defined in the spectrum. The nature of the observed modes was discussed in detail. Optical absorption of the material was investigated utilizing room temperatu...
Examination of the Change in the Vegetation Around the Kirka Boron Mine Site by Using Remote Sensing Techniques
Cetin, Mehmet; Isik Pekkan, Ozge; Bilge Ozturk, Gulsah; Şenyel Kürkçüoğlu, Müzeyyen Anıl; Kucukpehlivan, Tuncay; Cabuk, Alper (2022-07-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Within the scope of the study, the change occurring in the vegetation cover was examined in different temporal and spatial scales for in the example of Kırka boron mining site. Two different satellite images, namely Landsat and Sentinel, were utilized while the competence of these two satellite images were analyzed. Unsupervised classification and vegetation indexes have been used from remote sensing techniques. It was observed...
Predictive Design and Analysis of Drug Transport by MultiScale Computational Models Under Uncertainty
Akalın, Ali Aykut; Dedekargınoğlu, Barış; Choi, Sae Rome; Han, Bumsoo; Özçelikkale, Altuğ (2022-01-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.Computational modeling of drug delivery is becoming an indispensable tool for advancing drug development pipeline, particularly in nanomedicine where a rational design strategy is ultimately sought. While numerous in silico models have been developed that can accurately describe nanoparticle interactions with the bioenvironment within prescribed length and time scales, predictive design of these d...
Valorization of Apple Pomace Via Single Cell Oil Production Using Oleaginous Yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides
Tuhanioglu, Arda; Hamamcı, Haluk; Alpas, Hami; Çekmecelioğlu, Deniz (2022-01-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature B.V.Apple pomace was used as a sole raw material for single cell oil (SCO) production by the oleaginous yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides DSM 4444. Preliminary studies with glucose medium revealed 100 mL of working volume in 500 mL Erlenmeyer flask as the most efficient in terms of lipid content. Thus, apple pomace hydrolysate was tested in six different conditions using 100 mL medium. The detoxified hydrolysate without chemical supplement (D m...
Tensionless strings and Killing(-Yano) tensors
Lindström, Ulf; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür (2022-06-10)
© 2022 The Author(s)We construct invariants for bosonic and spinning tensionless (null) strings in backgrounds that carry Killing tensors or Killing-Yano tensors of mixed type. This is facilitated by the close relation of these strings to point particles. We apply the construction to the Minkowski and to the Kerr-Newman backgrounds.
