Constant water content direct shear testing of compacted residual soils
ÜYETÜRK, CELAL EMRE; Huvaj Sarıhan, Nejan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-08-01)
Mechanical behavior of residual soils are studied by performing constant water content direct shear tests on reconstituted specimens using total stress analysis. The testing program involves initial degree of saturation (Sr) and applied normal stress as the control parameters. For three different soil samples, a total of 55 direct shear tests are conducted at Sr = 60%, 80%, and saturated conditions, in the normal stress range of 15-60 kPa. The results showed that shear strength increases with decreasing Sr ...

Constant voltage, constant frequency operation of a self-excited induction generator
Çalışkan, Ahmet; Üçtuğ, Yıldırım; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
In this thesis, control schemes for the self-excited induction generator are developed with Matlab/Simulink. Self-excited induction generator is considered as a constant voltage-constant frequency supply for an isolated load. A wind turbine is assumed to be the variable-speed drive of the induction generator. Control schemes aim to ensure a constant voltage-constant frequency operation of the induction generator in case of the variations in the wind speed and/or the load. From the general model of the self-...

The synthesis and unique tunable optical properties of core/crown nanoplatelets having an inverted Type-I heterostructure are presented. Here, colloidal 2D CdS/CdSe heteronanoplatelets are grown with thickness of four monolayers using seed-mediated method. In this work, it is shown that the emission peak of the resulting CdS/CdSe heteronanoplatelets can be continuously spectrally tuned between the peak emission wavelengths of the core only CdS nanoplatelets (421 nm) and CdSe nanoplatelets (515 nm) having th...
