On the statistical distributions of active intensity directions
Günel Kılıç, Banu (2013-09-30)
Pressure and pressure differences measured using closely-spaced microphone pairs enable the calculation of active intensity directions. These directions are exploited in various applications such as acoustical analysis and modelling, multichannel audio systems, source localization and real-time blind source separation. Despite their widespread usage, the distribution of the active intensity directions in the presence of interference has not been investigated before, except for the diffuse sound field case f...
On the Parity of Power Permutations
Comak, Pinar; Özbudak, Ferruh (2021-01-01)
CCBYSide-channel analysis (SCA) attacks and many countermeasures to foil these attacks have been the subject of a large body of research. Different masking schemes have been proposed as countermeasures, one of which is Threshold Implementation (TI), which carries proof of security against DPA even in the presence of glitches. At the same time, it requires a smaller area and uses much less randomness than the other secure masking methods. One of the methods to have an efficient TI of high degree S-boxes is t...
On the convergence of nonlinear plate solutions
Aşık, Mehmet Zülfü (1997-10-01)
In modern buildings, especially in commercial buildings, large glass panels are used as windows. Design of these glass panels is becoming important. Behavior of the thin glass panels is geometrically nonlinear. Thus, analysis needs iterative solution and the solution of nonlinear plate problems with elastic supports necessitates a complete displacement formulation. The authors think that it could be useful to share their experience gained from research on the solution of von Karman equations using lateral d...
On the deformation chirality of real cubic fourfolds
Finashin, Sergey (Wiley, 2009-09-01)
According to our previous results, the conjugacy class of the involution induced by the complex conjugation in the homology of a real non-singular cubic fourfold determines the fourfold tip to projective equivalence and deformation. Here, we show how to eliminate the projective equivalence and obtain a pure deformation classification, that is, how to respond to the chirality problem: which cubics are not deformation equivalent to their image under a mirror reflection. We provide an arithmetical criterion of...
On the outbursts of black hole soft X-ray transients
Ertan, U; Alpar, MA (EDP Sciences, 2002-10-01)
We suggest a new scenario to explain the outburst light curves of black hole soft X-ray transients together with the secondary maximum and the bump seen on their decay phases. Our explanations are based on the disk instability models considering the effect of X-ray irradiation. The scenario is consistent with the observed X-ray delays by a few days with respect to the optical rise for both the main outburst and the later maxima. We test our scenario by numerically solving the disk diffusion equation. The ob...
