Thermal behaviour of electrical insulators
Özkan, Mustafa; Ertaş, Arif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2002)
High voltage insulators are always subjected to pollution during service. Depending upon the atmospheric conditions, there is an increase in leakage current along the contaminated surface of the insulator, which eventually leads to a rise in temperature. Therefore the performance of a contaminated high voltage insulator is quite different from the one under pollution free conditions. This study deals with the evaluation of electric potential and temperature distribution along the surface of an outdoor post ...
Kinetic studies on polymeric peroxy-carbamates: their use in the synthesis of block copolymers of styrene and characterization of the products.

Viscoelastic properties of reactive and non-reactive blends of ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymers with styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer
Bayram, G; Yılmazer, Ülkü; Xanthos, M (Wiley, 2001-02-01)
The effects of compatibilizing reactions on the viscoelastic properties and morphology of ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymers were studied. Potentially reactive blends of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer (SMAH) and a terpolymer of ethylene/methyl acrylate/glycidyl methacrylate (E-MA-GMA) were compared with a nonreactive blend of SMAH and an ethylene/methyl acrylate (E-MA) copolymer with similar rheological properties. Melt mixing was carried out in a batch mixer and in a co-rotating twin screw extruder. T...
Electroluminescence from Er-doped Si-rich silicon nitride light emitting diodes
Yerci, Selçuk; DAL NEGRO, Luca (2010-08-23)
Electrical devices based on Erbium (Er) doping of silicon nitride have been fabricated by reactive cosputtering and intense, room temperature Er electroluminescence was observed in the visible (527, 550, and 660 nm) and near-infrared (980 and 1535 nm) spectral ranges at low injection voltages (< 5 V EL turn on). The electrical transport mechanism in these devices was investigated and the excitation cross section for the 1535 nm Er emission was measured under electrical pumping, resulting in a value (1.2x10(...
