Development of a computer program for friction winding system design
Ünal, Fuat Gökhan; Bölükbaşı, Naci; Department of Mining Engineering (2011)
As the trend to deeper mines continues, mine hoists and associated equipment will become more sophisticated, complex, large and expensive. Correct selection of the right type of hoist is imperative. In this vital link between underground and surface, crude estimates of hoist capacity are not good enough, and the mining engineer must design and select the right hoisting system to meet the design specifications and establish the most suitable operating parameters. This study aims to constitute a software mode...
Implementation of sensorless vector control drive with current position estimation
Filci, Tayfun; Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2016)
In this thesis, an algorithm will be developed and implemented online for the estimation of rotor position from the rotor slot harmonics in stator currents. Experiments will be done on an inverter driven induction motor hardware, and the performance of the position detection algorithm will be evaluated in comparison with commercial encoder outputs.
Implementation of a vector controlled induction motor drive
Acar, Akın; Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
High dynamic performance, which is obtained from dc motors, became achievable from induction motors with the recent advances in power semiconductors, digital signal processors and development in control techniques. By using field oriented control, torque and flux of the induction motors can be controlled independently as in dc motors. The control performance of field oriented induction motor drive greatly depends on the correct stator flux estimation. In this thesis voltage model is used for the flux estima...
Rehabilitation of Malatya Narli No: 7 Railroad Tunnel
Divleli, Barış; Ünal, Erdal; Department of Mining Engineering (2004)
In thesis thesis, studies associated with the rehabilitation of the Malatya-Narli No: 7 Railroad Tunnel are presented. The rehabilitation work includes cleaning of two collapses and stopping of deformations occurring in the tunnel as well as characterizing the rock-mass by evaluating the cores obtained from 67 drill holes. Due to two collapses ocurred in the tunnel a large sinkhole (15x10x20 meters) was developed at the surface and the tunnel closed to train traffic for 10 months (September, 2002-July, 2003...
Development of piezoelectric ceramics for ultrasonic motor applications
Kalem, Volkan; Timuçin, Muharrem; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2011)
This study has been carried out to develop and manufacture piezoelectric ceramic materials which are utilized for ultrasonic motor (USM) applications. For this purpose, the effect of compositional modifications on the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) based ceramics was investigated. PZT based powders were produced using the mixed oxide method. The base composition was selected as Pb(Zr0.54Ti0.46)O3. The samples in the proximity of morphotrophic phase boundary were dop...
