Stride-to-stride energy regulation for robust self-stability of a torque-actuated dissipative spring-mass hopper
Ankaralı, Mustafa Mert; Saranlı, Uluç (2010-09-01)
In this paper, we analyze the self-stability properties of planar running with a dissipative spring-mass model driven by torque actuation at the hip. We first show that a two-dimensional, approximate analytic return map for uncontrolled locomotion with this system under a fixed touchdown leg angle policy and an open-loop ramp torque profile exhibits only marginal self-stability that does not always persist for the exact system. We then propose a per-stride feedback strategy for the hip torque that explicitl...
CALL (Computer‐Assisted Language Learning) Specialists Preparation.
Savaş, Perihan (John Wiley & Sons, West Sussex, UK , 2019-01-01)
Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) has been a dynamic field of study for the last few decades. As technological tools become more common in the lives of language learners and teachers, integration of technology in language classes has also gained popularity. There have been many studies done on CALL and there are many effective CALL tools available online and offline. However, CALL implementations are not always based on training specific to CALL and CALL teacher training still remains mainly unchar...

Age-Optimal Channel Coding Blocklength for an M/G/1 Queue with HARQ
Sac, Hakan; Bacinoglu, Tan; Uysal, Elif; Durisi, Giuseppe (2018-08-24)
We consider a communication system in which a source transmits information updates to a destination node through a binary erasure channel (BEC). When a packet containing an information update, which consists of a fixed number of information bits, arrives at the transmitter, it gets queued in a buffer, to be encoded and sent over the channel. Before transmitting a packet, the transmitter selects a channel coding blocklength n and then uses an automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol, whereby packets that are ...
