A Novel Left-Handed Metamaterial Based on Circular Resonator and Wire Strip for Waveguide Applications
Gunduz, Ozan T.; Sabah, Cumali (2014-07-10)
A new design of left-handed (LH) metamaterial (MTM) for waveguide applications is presented. The proposed structure is based on two identical circular ring resonators (CRRs) connected with a wire strip (WS). Simulation results show that the planar MTM has a LH resonance at around 10 GHz. Surface current and magnetic field distributions at the resonance are also examined to shown the LH behavior of the structure. In addition, a parametric study based on the gap size of the structure is also given in order to...
A Novel Dual-band Metamaterial Structure
Ekmekci, E.; Turban-Sayan, G. (2009-08-21)
In this study, we propose a novel metamaterial structure having magnetic resonances at two different frequencies and hence providing negative effective permeability values over two separate bandwidths. The introduced metamaterial unit cell topology in this paper is made of a single loop of conducting strip printed over a dielectric substrate with a special winding geometry. Transmission and reflection spectra of this unit cell are simulated using the Ansoft's HFSS software to observe its resonance frequenci...
Microarray based expression profiling of barley under boron stress and cloning of 3H boron tolerance gene
Öz, Mehmet Tufan; Eyidoğan, Füsun; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni; Department of Biotechnology (2012)
Both deficiency and toxicity of the essential micronutrient boron (B) lead to reduced crop yield in agriculture. However, our understanding of the molecular responses of plants under B stresses to tackle the yield loss is limited. Therefore, in the present study, transcriptional alterations in sensitive and tolerant barley cultivars under B deficiency and toxicity were investigated in order to reveal the molecular responses. Transcriptomes were monitored at seedling stage by global expression profiling usin...
A New Multi-ring SRR Type Metamaterial Design with Multiple Magnetic Resonances
Turkmen, O.; Ekmekci, E.; Sayan, Gönül (2011-03-23)
In this study, we propose a new SRR unit cell design for multi-band metamaterial applications. The suggested unit cell structure consists of N number of concentric split rings to obtain magnetic resonances at N distinct frequencies. The value of each distinct resonance frequency can be adjusted by changing design parameters such as metal widths and gap distances for each ring as well as ring-to-ring separations. The suggested multi-band structure is simulated using CST Microwave Studio. Effective medium par...
A Research Methodology to Conduct Effective Research Syntheses
ÜSTÜN, ULAŞ; Eryılmaz, Ali (2014-01-01)
The need for comprehensive and systematic research syntheses has been increasing as the number of primary studies has proliferated in educational sciences in recent years. That is the main reason why diverse applications of meta-analysis, which is one of the most effective ways of research synthesis, has been encouraged in many disciplines including social and educational sciences. The main purpose of this article is to provide a conceptual framework for meta-analysis by questioning its criticisms and stren...
