A general analysis of the photon and lepton polarizations in the rare Bs ? ?l+l- decay by using the most general model independent form of the effective Hamiltonian is presented. The total and the differential branching ratios for these decays, when photon is in the positive and negative helicity states, are studied. The sensitivity of "photon polarization asymmetry" and the longitudinal, transverse and normal polarization asymmetries of final state leptons, as well as lepton-antilepton combined asymmetries in Bs ? ?l+l- decay to the new Wilson coefficients are also investigated. It is shown that all these physical observables are very sensitive to the existence of new physics beyond SM and their experimental measurements can give valuable information about it.

Model independent analysis of rare, exclusive b-meson decays
Çakmak, Mehmet Kerim; Savcı, Mustafa; Department of Physics (2004)
Using the general, model indepenent form of the effective Hamiltonian, the general expressions of the longitudinal, normal and transversal polarization asymmetries for l+ and l- for the effective B -> K(K*)l+l- decays has been calculated. Existence of regions of Wilson coefficients for which the branching ratio coincides with the Standard Model result, while the lepton polarizations differ from the standard model prediction is expected. Hence, studying lepton polarizations in these regions of Wilson coeffic...
Measurement of sm electro-weak parameters in reactor antineutrino-electron scattering in texono experiment
Deniz, Muhammed; Serin, Meltem; Department of Physics (2007)
In this thesis a search for electron type neutrino-electron scattering cross-section and Weinberg Angle measurements were performed at KS Nuclear Power Station with 200 kg CsI(Tl) scintillating crystal detector located at a distance of 28 m from the 2.9 GW reactor core giving total flux of 6:52X10^12 cm^-2s^-1 in average at the experimental site. New analysis techniques and background suppression methods were developed. In the region of 3-8 MeV a measurement of SM cross section of (1:235+-0.577) XR_SM and W...
Properties of light and heavy baryons in light cone qcd sum rules formalism
Azizi, Kazem; Özpineci, Altuğ; Department of Physics (2009)
In this thesis, we investigate the masses, form factors and magnetic dipole moments of some light octet, decuplet and heavy baryons containing a single heavy quark in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules. The magnetic dipole moments can be measured considering radiative transitions within a multiplet or between multiplets. Analyzing the transitions among the baryons and calculating the above mentioned parameters can give us insight into the structure of those baryons. In analyzing the aforementione...
Study of one dimensional position dependent effective mass problem in some quantum mechanical systems
Bucurgat, Mahmut; Sever, Ramazan; Department of Physics (2008)
The one dimensional position dependent effective mass problem is studied by solving the Schrödinger equation for some well known potentials, such as the deformed Hulthen, the Mie, the Kratzer, the pseudoharmonic, and the Morse potentials. Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used in the calculations to get energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions exactly. By introducing a free parameter in the transformation of the wave function, the position dependent effective mass problem is reduced to the solution ...
THE SCALAR UNPARTICLE EFFECT ON THE CHARGED LEPTON ELECTRIC DIPOLE MOMENT
Iltan, E. O. (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2009-06-10)
We study the charged lepton electric dipole moment which is induced by the scalar unparticle mediation and we predict the appropriate range for the free parameters appearing in the effective Lagrangian which drives the unparticle-standard model lepton interactions. We observe that the charged lepton electric dipole moment is strongly sensitive to the scaling dimension d(u) of the unparticle and the new couplings in the effective interaction. Furthermore, we see that the current experimental limits of charge...
