A 15-40-GHz Frequency Reconfigurable RF MEMS Phase Shifter
Ünlü, Mehmet; Demir, Şimşek; Akın, Tayfun (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2013-08-01)
This paper presents a novel frequency reconfigurable phase shifter using the RF microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The phase shifter is based on the triple-stub circuit topology composed of three stubs that are connected by two transmission lines that are all implemented as distributed MEMS transmission lines. The insertion phase of the circuit is controlled by changing the electrical lengths of the stubs and the connecting transmission lines, while having ideally zero reflection coefficient ...
A Single Phase AC-AC Boost Converter With Improved Input Power Factor and THD
Kabir, Md. Ashfanoor; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Mustafiz, Rubiya Binta; İslam, Muhammed Qamarul; Choudhury, M. A. (2011-09-10)
A new circuit is proposed for single phase AC-AC conversion using Boost topology. Input Power factor, input current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and efficiency of the circuit are examined for the proposed circuit for different duty cycles. As the output is boosted pwm chopped in ac supply, the voltage gain of the converter has both Buck and Boost characteristics. A single bidirectional switch is used for power conversion and results show good performance. Analysis and simulation results for the circuit a...
A two stage solid state power amplifier at X-band for satellite communication
Sen, Özlem; Dudak, C.; Nakiboğlu, Barış (2003-01-01)
Low earth orbit (LEO) satellites play an important role in earth observation and communication fields. Since communication with LEO has time limitation, it is important to have high data rate transmitters in addition to having properties as small volume, lightness and efficiency. In this work, an X-band (8.2 GHz) solid state power amplifier is designed with an output power of 7W, total gain of 18.0dB and bandwidth of 200MHz as a part of an onboard transmitter with data rate of 100 Mbps. The power amplifier ...

A current source converter based statcom for reactive power compensation at low voltage
Biçer, Nazan; Ermiş, Muammer; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
This research work is devoted to the analysis, design and development of the Current-Source Converter (CSC) based distribution-type Static Synchronous Compensator (D-STATCOM) for low-voltage applications in reactive-power control in order to achieve i) faster transient response in reactive-power control, ii) lower current harmonic distortion, iii) lower power losses and iv) minimum storage elements in comparison with conventional solutions. The developed CSC-D-STATCOM includes a low-pass input filter and a ...
