The purpose of this work is indicating System Dynamics Approach to be an appropriate tool for analysis of policies suggested for local sectors. Local sectors are very important for stability of the country’s economy as well as welfare of the local community. Therefore, feasible and effective policies should be created and implemented in order to contribute to the local sectoral development. But before any policy implementation, policy analysis is required on to evaluate whether effectiveness and feasibility would be ensured in alternative policies. In this study, firstly the issues of Local Sectoral Dynamics and Policies are examined and specifically, the situation in Alanya Tourism Sector is studied. Afterwards, in accordance with policy analysis steps, problems of Alanya Tourism Sector are detailed and alternative policies that would aid in solution of the problem are idenfined. For evaluation of alternative policies, Dynamics of Alanya Tourism Sector are modeled by System Dynamics approach and the ‘Formal Model’ is implemented in Stella 9.0.1. The model is simulated for all policy alternatives and the policy outcomes of each alternative are forecasted. Finally the performance of each policy are evaluated using the previously established criteria and combined policies having more superior outcomes than the present ones are created.

Proposal and evaluation of a KBE-RM selection system
Munguia, Javier; Bernard, Alain; Erdal Erdoğmuş, Merve (Emerald, 2011-01-01)
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to propose and evaluate a novel tool for the assessment and selection of rapid prototyping (RP)/manufacturing (RM) systems as alternative processes for low-volume production in the machinery and equipment design sector. By analysing previous RP/RM selectors, this research addresses the necessary factors that a knowledge-based engineering (KBE) system must include for the analysis, comparison and ranking of candidate technologies.
Exploring the Relationship between Complexity and Risk in Megaconstruction Projects
Erol, Huseyin; Dikmen, Irem; Atasoy Özcan, Güzide; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2020-12-01)
© 2020 American Society of Civil Engineers.Although complexity and risk are inherent characteristics of megaconstruction projects, existing project management approaches fail to incorporate complexity-based thinking into risk management. Complexity is usually considered as the source of risk events, along with uncertainty. However, prevailing risk management practices are oriented toward only handling the uncertainty. The lack of integration between the complexity and other risk-related concepts leads to un...
Evaluating the mine plan alternatives with respect to bottom-up and top-down sustainability criteria
Yaylaci, Evren Deniz; Düzgün, Hafize Şebnem (Elsevier BV, 2017-11-20)
The previous researches on sustainability evaluation for the mining sector indicate that the tailor-made integrated frameworks should have the capabilities of integrating the stakeholder-focused information as effectively as operational information into the evaluation and reporting process. In this regard, this paper proposes an indicator-based quantitative evaluation framework for integrating the concerns and priorities of the local stakeholders into the evaluation of sustainability in the mining sector op...
Role of system architecture in architecture in developing new drafting tools
Sorguç, Arzu (Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2005-06-01)
In this study, the impact of information technologies in architectural design process is discussed. In this discussion, first the differences/nuances between the concept of software engineering and system architecture are clarified. Then, the design process in engineering, and design process in architecture has been compared by considering 3-D models as the center of design process over which the other disciplines involve the design. It is pointed out that in many high-end engineering applications, 3-D soli...
Network governance model in tourism administration: a case of Turkey /
Ateş Özalp, Sema; Üstüner, Mustafa Yılmaz; Department of Political Science and Public Administration (2015)
The research question of this thesis is “How concepts derived from policy networks and network governance theories can be used to analyse the roles, activities and interactions of government, corporate and pressure group stakeholders engaged in tourism policy, planning and management?” And “is it possible to use network governance model in tourism policy making process of Turkey?”. In this thesis, it is asserted that, in making of tourism policy, network governance model - in which policy formulation is rea...
