The physics of randomness and regularities for languages in terms of random matrices
Tuncay, C. (IOP Publishing, 2008-04-01)
The physics of randomness and regularities for languages (mother tongues) and their lifetimes and family trees and for the second languages (bilinguals) are studied in terms of two processes: random multiplicative noise and fragmentation. We start with various random initial worlds and come out with regularities which are all similar to the present empirical data for the above-mentioned terms. Copyright (c) EPLA, 2008.
THE RESPONSE OF INFINITE PERIODIC BEAMS TO POINT HARMONIC FORCES - A FLEXURAL WAVE ANALYSIS
MEAD, DJ; Yaman, Yavuz (1991-02-08)
An exact analysis is presented of the vibration response of an infinite beam on periodic supports, subjected to a transverse harmonic point force. The supports must all be the same and can be simply supported or be generally linear with elastic, inertial and dissipative properties. The total response is found as the sum of the flexural wave fields generated by the applied force and the infinite number of support reaction forces and moments. The concept of phased arrays of forces and moments is used to sum t...
THE DYNAMICS OF A QUANTAL RESERVOIR COUPLED TO CLASSICAL MODES - A MIXED-MODE APPROACH TO DISSOCIATING MOLECULES
YURTSEVER, E; UZER, T (1992-07-01)
We have analyzed a three-mode model system to study quantum effects in a dissociative process. An algorithm which combines Hamilton's and time-dependent Schroedinger equations in an SCF manner is applied. Large differences in the qualitative behaviour of trajectories are observed which suggests a chaotic nature. The monitoring of the energy transfer or trajectories themselves by interactive computer graphics can be used to forecast possibilities of dissociation. It is also noted that the initial conditions ...
