Turkey is one of the countries which has wind energy policies and prospective aims. Hence, wind energy developments have been maintained for the last decade more than ever across the country. Muğla, as sixth province with highest wind energy potential, gets its share by hosting ongoing projects. It is also known for its tourism sector and the sector gets its strength from the unique environmental values of the province. This study investigates opinions and choices of two main stakeholders of tourism sector -tourists and tourism employees- on wind farms through a structured questionnaire survey method in Muğla Province. Additionally, their choices about site selection of the wind farms are taken into account by using Geographic Information Systems.

Market development of renewable energy in Turkey
Demirdizen, Hasan Gence; Tiğrek, Şahnaz; Department of Civil Engineering (2013)
Renewable energy is a current issue in the world as well as in Turkey. Turkey has developing policies in the renewable energy field. Although it is a beneficial mean of obtaining energy, there are barriers on renewable energy production. In order to develop renewable energies, those barriers have to be analyzed and suitable implementations should be developed to overcome them. In this thesis policy and implementation on the renewables are evaluated in general and specially for Turkey. The electricity market...
Hydroelectric power potential and its use in Turkey
Taşdemiroğlu, Erol (Elsevier BV, 1988-7)
Hydroelectric development in Turkey is briefly reviewed. The results of estimates of gross and economically exploitable hydroelectric power potentials are compared. Dam sites and their order for construction are identified. Present and future developments in the power sector are analyzed and projections are given for electricity consumption and production to the year 2010. Hydraulic, thermal and nuclear contributions to total electricity generation are discussed. Finally, problems associated with hydroelect...
Geothermal energy potential and utilization in Turkey
Taşdemiroğlu, Ersoy (Elsevier BV, 1988-3)
The regional distribution of the geothermal energy potential in Turkey, recent surveys, and utilization areas are described. The present and future roles of geothermal energy and their economic aspects are discussed. The implications of geothermal energy exploration and utilization are noted. Recommendations are made to expand geothermal-energy development.
Solar energy R&D, technology and economics in Turkey
Taşdemiroğlu, E (Elsevier BV, 1990-1)
The solar energy potential of Turkey is assessed. Solar energy R&D programs and technology and the present market for flat-plate solar collectors are briefly reviewed. The potential share of solar energy in the total energy budget is estimated.
Effects of numerical weather predictions on wind power forecasts
Işık Çetin, İrem; Yücel, İsmail; Sarı, Ramazan; Department of Earth System Science (2018)
Wind energy investments are rapidly increasing in Turkey. The prediction of the electrical power generated from the wind is also gaining importance in this field because of the complexity of meteorological parameter wind. In this context, Wind Energy Monitoring and Forecasting Center (RITM) project has been initiated within the scope of the General Directorate of Renewable Energy (YEGM), in 2010. The final hourly wind energy predictions are generated by using the combination of the production data from Wind...
