Preparation of BaxSr1-xTiO3 thin films by chemical solution deposition and their electrical characterization
Adem, Umut; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2003)
In this study, barium strontium titanate (BST) thin films with different compositions (Ba0.9Sr0.1TiO3, Ba0.8Sr0.2TiO3, Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3, Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3) were produced by chemical solution deposition technique. BST solutions were prepared by dissolving barium acetate, strontium acetate and titanium isopropoxide in acetic acid and adding ethylene glycol as a chelating agent and stabilizer to this solution, at molar ratio of acetic acid/ethylene glycol, 3:1. The solution was then coated on Si and Pt//Ti/SiO2/Si ...
Adsorption of Cd(II) ions from aqueous solutions using activated carbon prepared from olive stone by ZnCl2 activation
Kula, Ibrahim; Ugurlu, Mehmet; Karaoglu, M. Hamdi; Celik, Ali (2008-02-01)
This study is aimed to remove Cd(II) ions from aqueous solutions by adsorption. As adsorbent, activated carbon prepared from olive stone, an agricultural solid by-product was used. Different activating agent (ZnCl2) amounts and adsorbent particle size were studied to optimize adsorbent surface area. The adsorption experiments were conducted at different parameters such as, adsorbent dose, temperature, equilibrium time and pH. According to the experiments results, the equilibrium time, optimum pH, adsorbent ...
MESOPOROUS SULPHATE DOPED HYDROXYAPATITE NANOPARTICLES FOR CONTROLLED RELEASE OF PROTEINS
ALSHEMARY, AMMAR Z.; Muhammed, Yasser; SALMAN, NADER A.; Motameni, Ali; Gürbüz, Rıza (2022-1-01)
All rights reserved. The purpose of this study is to synthesize and characterize the mesoporous nanostructure of Hydroxyapatite (HA), evaluate the impact of the addition of sulphate ions (SO42-) on the microstructure properties of HA, and assess the ability of the prepared materials to be used as a carrier for Bovine serum albumin (BSA) protein. This study successfully synthesized 0.07 mole of SO42- substituted HA using the reflux microwave-assisted wet precipitation method and fully characterized it using m...
Proteomics of phanerochaete chrysosporium under heavy metal stress
Yıldırım, Volkan; Özcengiz, Gülay; Department of Biology (2014)
In this study, time-dependent heavy metal response of the white rot fungus P. chrysosporium was analyzed by using 2D-PAGE-MS for soluble cytosolic fraction and GeLC-MS approach for membrane enriched fraction. After the 2D-PAGE-MS analysis, a total of 123 protein spots were detected as differentially expressed for Cu-exposed samples and 89 of them were identifed. Further analysis revealed that the 89 protein spots are the products of the 58 distinct ORFs. Overall, strongly up-regulated proteins included (i) ...
Kinetic analyses of the effects of temperature and light intensity on growth, hydrogenm production and organic acid utilization by rhodobacter capsulatus
Sevinç, Pelin; Gündüz, Ufuk; Department of Biotechnology (2010)
Effects of temperature and light intensity on photofermentative hydrogen production by Rhodobacter capsulatus DSM1710 by use of acetic and lactic acids as substrates were studied. Experiments were conducted at 20, 30 and 38oC incubator temperatures under light intensities in the 1500 – 7000 lux range. pH of the medium and quantity of hydrogen forming together with quantity of biomass, and concentrations of acetic, lactic, formic, butyric and propionic acids in the medium were determined periodically. Growth...
