Fibers of thermoplastic polymer blends activate multiple interlayer toughening mechanisms
Kılıçoğlu, Melike; Bat, Erhan; Gündüz, Güngör; YILDIRIM, MUSTAFA UTKU; URGUN, KAMİL; MAVİŞ, BORA (2022-07-01)
© 2022 Elsevier LtdInterleaving fiber reinforced layered composites with thermoplastic veils is a strategy that has been examined by using electrospun fibers of homopolymers as well as their physical mixtures. Separate toughening mechanisms were activated by the individual presence of the physically mixed fibers in previous studies. Here, we show that it is possible to initiate a concerted action of these mechanisms by interleaving electrospun fiber veils based on blends of PCL and PA6 (80/20, 60/40 and 40/...
Multi-view video coding via dense depth estimation
Oezkalayci, Burak; Gedik, O. Serdar; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2007-05-09)
A geometry-based multi-view video coding (MVC) method is proposed. In order to utilize the spatial redundancies between multiple views, the scene geometry is estimated as dense depth maps. The dense depth estimation problem is modeled by using a Markov random field (MRF) and solved via the belief propagation algorithm. Relying on these depth maps of the scene, novel view estimates of the intermediate views of the multi-view set is obtained with a 3D warping algorithm, which also performs hole-filling in the...

SILVER-PLATINUM CORE-SHELL NANOWIRES FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL APPLICATIONS
Tunca, Şensu; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2021-7)
Silver nanowire (Ag NW) networks are one of the most outstanding candidates for optoelectronic applications to replace the commercial transparent conducting oxides (TCOs). Their high mechanical stability, solution based and scalable, low-cost synthesis and deposition routes make them an advantageous candidate over TCOs for future electronics. However, the integration of NW networks into electronic devices requires high thermal, chemical and electrochemical stability of NWs. This work describes the fabricat...
Separation of the protease enzymes of Bacillus licheniformis from the fermentation medium by crossflow ultrafiltration
Takac, S; Elmas, S; Çalık, Pınar; Ozdamar, TH (2000-06-01)
The separation from fermentation medium of extracellular serine alkaline protease (SAP) enzyme produced by Bacillus licheniformis was investigated using a crossflow ultrafiltration system. SAP was separated from the high molecular weight neutral protease (NP) and amylase (AMY) enzymes and from the low molecular weight organic acids and amino acids in a crossflow ultrafiltration system with 30000 Da and 10000 Da MWCO polysulfone membranes, respectively. The effects of transmembrane pressure (TMP), recirculat...
