Here we present a helium atom diffraction study of pentacene films on Au(1 1 1) surface prepared by supersonic molecular beam deposition. Though investigated parameter space was limited no significant difference between the films prepared by different deposition energies was observed. Completion of monolayer coverage was confirmed by simultaneous helium scattering and quartz crystal resonance frequency shift measurements during pentacene film growth on the gold electrode of a quartz resonator. Monolayer films were found to adopt a (6 x 3) unit cell which was also observed for pentacene monolayers on Ag(1 1 1). However no ordered multilayer film structure could be observed which is in contrast with the previous Ag(1 1 1) studies. (C) 2014 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.

11-Hydroxyundecyl octadecyl disulfide self-assembled monolayers on Au(111)
ALBAYRAK, EROL; KARABUĞA, ŞEMİSTAN; Bracco, Gianangelo; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2014-08-30)
Here, we report a helium atom diffraction study of 11-hydroxyundecyl octadecyl disulfide (CH3-(CH2)(17)-S-S-(CH2)(11)-OH, HOD) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) produced by supersonic molecular beam deposition (SMBD). Two different lying down monolayer phases were observed depending on the substrate temperature. At low temperatures a poorly ordered phase was observed, while the diffraction patterns of the film grown at high temperatures were similar to that of mercaptoundecanol (MUD) SAMs reported previously...
Perfluoropentacene thin films on Au(111) surfaces: Effect of kinetic energy and vibrational properties
Yavuz, Adem; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2022-06-01)
We studied vibrational properties and the effect of beam kinetic energy on perfluoropentacene (PFP) thin films grown by supersonic molecular beam deposition (SMBD) technique on gold surfaces. Though similar growth mechanism was observed for different beam kinetic energies, in the case of low coverage (less than 1 monolayer) films and for low deposition rates significant differences were observed in the properties of films grown by using helium and argon carrier gasses with the former case resulting in highe...
Helium atom diffraction study of low coverage phases of decanethiol self-assembled monolayers prepared by supersonic molecular beam deposition
Albayrak, E.; DUMAN, SONER; Bracco, G.; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2013-03-01)
Thiol self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold surfaces have a wide range of applications including surface patterning and metal contact-organic semiconductor interface modification in organic electronic devices. Here we present our studies about the low coverage phases of decanethiol (CH3(CH2)(9)SH) SAMs on Au(1 1 1) surface, grown in vacuum by supersonic molecular beam deposition. Crystal structures, phase behaviors and desorption energies of these films determined by helium atom diffraction technique are...
Temperature-dependent optical properties of GaSe layered single crystals
Hasanlı, Nızamı (2016-8-01)
Optical properties of GaSe single crystals have been investigated using temperature-dependent transmission and room temperature reflection measurements in the wavelength range of 380–1100 nm. The analysis of the absorption data at room temperature showed the existence of indirect transitions in the crystal with energy band gap of 1.98 eV. Temperature dependence of the transmission measurements revealed the shift of the absorption edge toward lower energy as temperature is increased from 10 to 280 K. The rat...
Particle in cell/Monte Carlo collision analysis of the problem of identification of impurities in the gas by the plasma electron spectroscopy method
SARIKAYA, C. Kusoglu; Rafatov, İsmail; KUDRYAVTSEV, A. A. (2016-06-01)
The work deals with the Particle in Cell/Monte Carlo Collision (PIC/MCC) analysis of the problem of detection and identification of impurities in the nonlocal plasma of gas discharge using the Plasma Electron Spectroscopy (PLES) method. For this purpose, 1d3v PIC/MCC code for numerical simulation of glow discharge with nonlocal electron energy distribution function is developed. The elastic, excitation, and ionization collisions between electron-neutral pairs and isotropic scattering and charge exchange col...
