Thiol self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold surfaces have a wide range of applications including surface patterning and metal contact-organic semiconductor interface modification in organic electronic devices. Here we present our studies about the low coverage phases of decanethiol (CH3(CH2)(9)SH) SAMs on Au(1 1 1) surface, grown in vacuum by supersonic molecular beam deposition. Crystal structures, phase behaviors and desorption energies of these films determined by helium atom diffraction technique are discussed. (C) 2013 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.

Helium diffraction study of pentacene films on Au(111)
ALBAYRAK, EROL; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2014-03-15)
Here we present a helium atom diffraction study of pentacene films on Au(1 1 1) surface prepared by supersonic molecular beam deposition. Though investigated parameter space was limited no significant difference between the films prepared by different deposition energies was observed. Completion of monolayer coverage was confirmed by simultaneous helium scattering and quartz crystal resonance frequency shift measurements during pentacene film growth on the gold electrode of a quartz resonator. Monolayer fil...
Silver Nanoparticles Added Polymer Film Prepared by Electrochemical Route for Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering Applications
Khadim, Raisan; Uzun, Ceren; Cihaner, Atilla; Kaya, Murat (The Electrochemical Society, 2019-03-02)
A simplemethod for the fabrication of stable and highly active surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate by exploiting the optical properties of the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and organizational characteristics of the polymer is presented. Homogeneous distribution ofAgNPs is achieved with the usage of poly (4,7-di-2,3-dihydrothieno [3,4-b] [1,4] dioxin-5-yl-2,1,3 benzoselena diazole) (PESeE) film coated on the indium tin oxide glass (ITO) surface. The obtained structure ensured the emergence of a...
11-Hydroxyundecyl octadecyl disulfide self-assembled monolayers on Au(111)
ALBAYRAK, EROL; KARABUĞA, ŞEMİSTAN; Bracco, Gianangelo; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2014-08-30)
Here, we report a helium atom diffraction study of 11-hydroxyundecyl octadecyl disulfide (CH3-(CH2)(17)-S-S-(CH2)(11)-OH, HOD) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) produced by supersonic molecular beam deposition (SMBD). Two different lying down monolayer phases were observed depending on the substrate temperature. At low temperatures a poorly ordered phase was observed, while the diffraction patterns of the film grown at high temperatures were similar to that of mercaptoundecanol (MUD) SAMs reported previously...
Hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane using cobalt-nickel-phosphorus (Co-Ni-P) catalyst supported on Pd-activated TiO2 by electroless deposition
Rakap, Murat; Kalu, Egwu Eric; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2011-01-01)
Catalytically active, low-cost, and reusable transition metal catalysts are desired to develop on-demand hydrogen generation system for practical onboard applications. By using electroless deposition method, we have prepared the Pd-activated TiO2-supported Co-Ni-P ternary alloy catalyst (Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2) that can effectively promote the hydrogen release from ammonia-borane aqueous solution. Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2 catalysts are stable enough to be isolated as solid materials and characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX. ...
Mixed carboranethiol self-assembled monolayers on gold surfaces
Yavuz, Adem; Sohrabnia, Nima; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Danışman, Mehmet Fatih (2017-08-15)
Carboranethiol self-assembled monolayers on metal surfaces have been shown to be very convenient systems for surface engineering. Here we have studied pure and mixed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of three different carboranethiol (CT) isomers on gold surfaces. The isomers were chosen with dipole moments pointing parallel to (m-1-carboranethiol, M1), out of (m-9-carboranethiol, M9) and into (1-carboranethiol, 01) the surface plane, in order to investigate the effect of dipole moment orientation on the fil...
