The study aims to analyze the factors affecting performance of tutors during problem-based learning (PBL) implementations. This study employs a case study design in order to identify and analyze PBL implementations providing detailed and rich descriptions through the perceptions of tutors and students. To this end, four tutors and fourteen students were selected for the case study. The data utilized in this study were collected by means of observations and interviews. The findings of this study indicated that tutors' level of adaptation of the PBL and their content expertise were commonly mentioned as factors affecting their performance during PBL implementations.

Factors contributing to learning of calculus
Ubuz, Behiye (null; 2000-07-23)
This paper reports on a study of students learning the concepts of calculus, particularly derivative, and factors affecting learning in undergraduate calculuscourse in a computer-based learning environment. Interactive Set Language (ISETL)was used to help students to construct mathematical concepts on a computer,'mowedby the discussion held in the classroom. DERIVE was also used to do manipulationsand draw graphs. The results showed that there was a significant improvement inlearningderivativeconceptsingener...
Analysis of the Problem Based Learning Implementations Students and Tutors Perceptions and Actions
Ateş, Özlem; Eryılmaz, Ali (2015-03-01)
This study aims to analyze the implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) in engineering education regarding perceptions and actions of tutors and students. A case study design was employed in this study. To this end, four tutors, their five PBL modules, and fourteen students were selected. Observations and interviews were used to collect qualitative data. The results indicated that there was a difference between participants’ perception of PBL and their actions during tutorials. Participants’ level of ...
Factors affecting faculty intention to use course management systems in a private university
Kültür, Can; Yıldırım, İbrahim Soner; Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (2009)
This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting faculty intention to use course management systems (CMS). The study was conducted in a private university with a mixed-method approach. First, 260 responses to a questionnaire was analysed by using structural equation modeling technique in order to examine the provided model. Second, interviews with selected 14 faculty members were conducted to understand the interrelationships. The findings indicated that, faculty intention to use CMS is mostly related ...
A systematic review of technology acceptance model in e-learning context
Alkis, Nurcan; Coskunçay, Duygu Findik; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2014-09-10)
In this study, a systematic review was performed to identify the factors that affect adoption of e-learning systems by end-users. There are different studies in literature that examine factors affecting end-users’ e-learning acceptance and adoption. However any single study has not examined existing literature systematically in this context. This systematic review will be helpful to the people who are interested in e-learning and its adoption by providing effective factors in the literature which strongly i...
Factors Affecting Preservice Mathematics Teachers' Decisions on Probability Teaching
Özaytabak, Emel; Bulut, Safure; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2004)
The purpose of this study was to examine the factors affecting preservice mathematics teachers̕ decisions on probability teaching. The sample of the study was 248 preservice mathematics teachers from Gazi University, Hacettepe University, and Middle East Technical University. According to the gender the number of females and males were 170 and 78 respectively. To obtain necessary data for the study, the following measuring instruments were used: (1) Probability Achievement Test (PAT); (2) Probability Miscon...
