The purpose of the present study was to assess Turkish elementary school students' and pre-service teachers' environmental attitudes, and to explore whether there was a significant difference in the attitudes towards the environment of the above mentioned two groups. Datawas gathered by circulating a 45- item 'EnvironmentalAttitude Questionnaire' to a total of 1235 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, and 334 pre-service teachers. The results indicated that participants of this study accepted that environmental pollution is a serious problem of our times and it will not diminish in the future. Also they are aware of individual responsibilities in finding solutions for environmental problems. Asimilar conclusion, however, cannot be drawn when the attitudes towards solutions for the environmental problems are of concern. The findings also demonstrated that pre-service teachers and elementary school students significantly differed in their attitude towards the environment.

An associational study on pre-service early childhood teachers' nature relatedness in education for sustainability
Şahin, Elvan (Informa UK Limited, 2019-10-02)
There is significant global concern with current environmental problems, yet people's behaviour towards the environment has been resistant to change. We examined the associations between the domains repre...

University Students' Perception on Sustainable Development: A Case Study from Turkey
Teksöz, Gaye (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
How can universities realise their powerful role in dealing with issues of environmental degradation, education for sustainability and changing life styles? Being a developing country and having young people amounting to one-third of the total population, it is a very important challenge to help especially the young in Turkey to recognise the social, economic and cultural dimensions of the environment in order to achieve a sustainable future. Thus, this study aims at investigating university students' perce...
A study on primary school teachers' perceptions of the total quality management principles
Koral, Nesrin Özlem; Engin Demir, Cennet; Department of Educational Sciences (2003)
The purpose of this study is to investigate primary education teachers' perceptions about Total Quality Management (TQM) and the implementation degree of the principles of TQM in their schools; and to investigate whether there are significant differences between these perceptions of teachers in Curriculum Laboratory Schools (MLO) in which TQM principles are applied and teachers in non-MLO schools. For this reason, 16 primary education schools eight of which are MLO schools in different provinces of Ankara w...
