Project scheduling with progress payments in generalized project networks
Özay, Batuhan; Sepil, Canan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2002)
This study presents a resource constrained project scheduling problem with progress payments in generalized project networks. In this thesis, contrary to the several studies where cash inflows occur at the completion of the activities, cash inflows of the project occur as progress payments at the end of the time periods. To achieve the objective of maximizing net present value (NPV) of cash flows three heuristic rules are employed. These rules have been examined and computational results have been reported.
Project Portfolio Management Software Use in Construction Industry
Demirçeken, Orçun; Keskin, Başak; Sönmez, Rifat (2016-06-25)
In recent years, a variety of software alternatives and capabilities have been made available for project and portfolio management (PPM). However, very little research has focused on the use of project and portfolio management software in the construction industry. Degree of adoption of PPM software and the reasoning behind these selections may vary among contractors, as each project’s unique situation may have an impact on the contractor’s decision. The objective of this research is to determine the curren...

Project-based innovation performance assessment in the housing sector: a case study using innovation radar
Bilgin, Pınar; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Department of Civil Engineering (2019)
Unique and complex nature of the construction industry brings a high number of injuries in construction sites. Although the importance given to the health and safety practices increased recently, still there exists inadequacy of preventative practices along with poor risk management policies. One of the reasons that cause a high incidence of injuries is inability to identify scenarios that create injuries effectively, which in turn makes finding optimal risk mitigation strategies difficult. So, the objectiv...
Project Ranking with Interdependent Criteria using Prospect Theory
Karasakal, Esra; Akgün, Sinan (2005-06-01)
We develop a multi-criteria decision aid for a project ranking problem with interdependent criteria. In order to resolve interdependencies among criteria and weight them, we propose a simple method based on pairwise comparison. We incorporate the prospect theory, which can capture the choice behavior of the DM, into PROMETHEE II technique for evaluating each project
