We develop a multi-criteria decision aid for a project ranking problem with interdependent criteria. In order to resolve interdependencies among criteria and weight them, we propose a simple method based on pairwise comparison. We incorporate the prospect theory, which can capture the choice behavior of the DM, into PROMETHEE II technique for evaluating each project

Project appraisal and selection using the analytic network process
Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (Canadian Science Publishing, 2007-07-01)
Where prioritization and selection process of large-scale construction projects is concerned, governments should consider various quantitative and qualitative criteria when choosing the best project alternative. The traditional benefit-cost (B/C) analysis has some drawbacks in terms of analyzing qualitative attributes that cannot be easily expressed in monetary terms. To eliminate this limitation, multicriteria decision-making techniques are proposed for the solution of project prioritization problems. In t...
Project scheduling with progress payments in generalized project networks
Özay, Batuhan; Sepil, Canan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2002)
This study presents a resource constrained project scheduling problem with progress payments in generalized project networks. In this thesis, contrary to the several studies where cash inflows occur at the completion of the activities, cash inflows of the project occur as progress payments at the end of the time periods. To achieve the objective of maximizing net present value (NPV) of cash flows three heuristic rules are employed. These rules have been examined and computational results have been reported.
Leadership competency profiles in complex project management environment
Yılmaz, Fevziye; Çilingir, Canan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2015)
The overall ambition of this thesisis to find out required leadership competency profiles to be successful in complex project management environment. To ensure a complex project management environment, 35 projects that were executed in a company in the field of defense were analyzedbased on complexity factors that are mentioned in literature. By using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the relative complexity of the projects was measured and projects were grouped as complex or not. By taking into account the...
Information theoretic measure based interactive approaches to multi-criteria sorting problems
Özarslan, Ali; Karakaya, Gülşah; Department of Business Administration (2021-9)
In this thesis, we develop interactive approaches for sorting alternatives evaluated on multiple criteria. We assume that the preferences of the decision maker are consistent with an additive preference function in general monotone and piecewise linear forms. We progressively solve mathematical models to identify the possible category range of the alternatives and ask the decision maker to place an alternative in each iteration. Based on the mathematical models and Monte Carlo simulations, we hypothetically...
Project Cost Benefit and Risk Analysis using Bayesian Networks
Yet, Barbaros; Fenton, Norman; Neil, Martin; Luedeling, Eike; Shepherd, Keith (null; 2015-07-16)
Uncertainty and risks are common elements of all major projects. Yet such uncertainty is rarely effectively calculated when analysing project costs and benefits. This paper presents a Bayesian network (BN) modelling framework to calculate the costs, benefits, and return on investment of a project over a specified time period, allowing for changing circumstances and trade-offs. The framework uses hybrid and dynamic BNs containing both discrete and continuous variables over multiple time stages. The BN calcul...
