Carbon dioxide reforming of methane on Ni-based bimetallic catalyts
Ay, Hale; Üner, Deniz; Department of Chemical Engineering (2014)
Carbon dioxide reforming of methane is a promising process for the utilization of two important greenhouse gases and the production of synthesis gas with a lower H2/CO ratio which is preferred in Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. Ni catalysts have taken great interest in dry reforming of methane due to their high catalytic activity, easy availability and low cost. However, the main restriction of Ni-based catalysts is the formation of carbon which causes catalyst deactivation. The objective of this thesis was to r...
Synthesis and structural characterization of bulk and nanoalloys of Ni-B binary systems
Tekekaya, Halim Seçkin; Mekhrabov, Amdulla O.; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2019)
Nanoalloys can exhibit features which are distinct than bulk form of the same alloys. Novel properties of Ni-B magnetic nanoalloys have been used in many application areas such as; biomedicine, catalysis, nano-electronics, targeted drug delivery, data storage, magnetic separation, magnetic recording media, etc. It has been also shown that boron notably affects and increases wear resistance and hardness in nickel based alloys. Nickel based alloys having boron content show a good resistance to abrasion and ga...
Analysis of preformed plasma condition of Ni-like Mo X-ray laser media
İnce, Sevi; Bilikmen, Kadri Sinan; Department of Physics (2006)
The aim of this work is to produce X-ray laser source from a plasma produced by focusing a pulsed laser beam on a solid target. Preformed Molybdenum plasma is created by using Nd:YAG laser pulses with a pulse duration 6 ns and pulse intensity 5.09x1011 W/cm2. Detailed simulations of Ni-like Mo X-ray laser media are undertaken using the EHYBRID code which is a hydrodynamic code. X-ray resonance lines between 25 Å and 40 Å emitted from the molybdenum plasma have been obtained and analysed. EHYBRID code also g...
Synthesis and structural characterization of Ni-B nanoalloys
Mut, Lütfiye Seda; Mehrabov, Amdulla; Toffoli, Hande; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2015)
Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to produce and to realize the structural characterization of Nickel Boron nanocrystalline/amorphous, alloy/intermetallic phase powders. Mechanical alloying by high energy ball milling was determined as production method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for microstructure and morphological analysis, Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) for change in magnetic properties and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) for the...
