GaSe thin films were deposited by thermal evaporation technique with Cd doping. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that Cd-doped films have polycrystalline structure with the preferred orientation along ( 008) direction. Temperature dependent electrical conductivity measurements were carried out in the temperature range of 100 - 400 K along perpendicular and parallel directions to the growth direction for the films exhibiting p-type conduction determined by hot probe technique. The room temperature conductivity values of the films were found to be as 1.5 x 10(-8) and 4.9 x 10(-12) ( Omega cm)(-1) due to the measurements along both perpendicular and parallel directions, respectively. The difference in the conductivity values is the indication of electrical anisotropy in the samples. Carrier conduction in the films was provided by the thermionic emission in the high temperature region (310 - 400 K) with almost the same activation energies in both directions. Space charge limited current analysis at different temperatures reveals the existence of two discrete sets of trap levels for both perpendicular and parallel directions. Calculated trap levels and trap concentrations are 99 meV, 3.5 x 10(12) cm(-3) and 418 meV, 2.2 x 10(5) cm(-3) for perpendicular direction, 58 meV, 2.1 x 10(18) cm(-3) and 486 meV, 1.4 x 10(12) cm(-3) for parallel direction. The differences in the values of the trap levels and concentrations for both directions confirm the existence of electrical anisotropy in Cd-doped GaSe thin films, because of the structural anisotropy between and inside the crystallites.

Effect of Cd-doping level on the electrical, structural and photoconductivity properties of GaSe thin films
Colakoglu, T; Parlak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2005-12-01)
GaSe thin films were deposited by thermal evaporation technique with and without Cd doping. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the crystallinity of doped and undoped films increases in (1014) preferred orientation direction upon annealing. Addition of cadmium dopant with excess selenium in the GaSe structure gives rise to the possibility for the existence of a CdSe phase in the highly Cd-doped samples. The room temperature conductivity and mobility values of the samples were found to be lying in between...
Deposition of AgGaS2 thin films by double source thermal evaporation technique
KARAAĞAÇ, HAKAN; Parlak, Mehmet (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-09-01)
In this study, polycrystalline AgGaS2 thin films were deposited by the sequential evaporation of AgGaS2 and Ag sources with thermal evaporation technique. Thermal treatment in nitrogen atmosphere for 5 min up to 700 A degrees C was applied to the deposited thin films and that resulted in the mono phase AgGaS2 thin films without the participation of any other minor phase. Structural and compositional analyses showed the structure of the films completely changes with annealing process. The measurements of tra...
Characterization of cds thin films and schottky barrier diodes
Korkmaz, Sibel; Erçelebi, Ayşe Çiğdem; Department of Physics (2005)
CdS thin films were deposited by thermal evaporation method onto glass substrates without any doping. As a result of the structural and electrical investigation it was found that CdS thin films were of the polycrystalline structure and n-type; and of the transmission analysis optical band gap was found to be around 2.4 eV. Temperature dependent conductivity measurements were carried out in the range of 180 K ا 400 K. The dominant conduction mechanism is identified as tunnelling between 180 K ا 230 K and the...
Energetics and structural properties of carbon and oxygen doped hexagonal boron nitride sheets
Kökten, Hatice (Elsevier BV, 2011-10-01)
Energetics and structural properties of carbon and oxygen doped hexagonal boron nitride sheets have been investigated by performing density functional theory calculations. Substitutional doping model has been considered in the neutral charge state. C and O atoms replaced either B or N site in the system as impurities. A systematic study has been performed to see the effect of cell size on the calculated quantities, such as formation energy, relaxation energy, charge and bond length. It has been found that s...
Determination of current transport characteristics in Au-Cu/CuO/n-Si Schottky diodes
Surucu, O. Bayrakli; Güllü, Hasan Hüseyin; Terlemezoglu, M.; Yildiz, D. E.; Parlak, M. (Elsevier BV, 2019-10-01)
In this study, the material properties of CuO thin films fabricated by sputtering technique and electrical properties of CuO/n-Si structure were reported. Temperature-dependent current-voltage (I-V) measurement was carried out to determine the detail electrical characteristics of this structure. The anomaly in thermionic emission (TE) model related to barrier height inhomogeneity at the interface was obtained from the forward bias I-V analysis. The current transport mechanism at the junction was determined ...
