Intrinsic properties of organic semiconductors are investigated by Time-Resolved Terahertz Spectroscopy (TRTS) to assess their relative mobilities and efficiencies. Our results are well correlated with device measurements and show the effectiveness and advantages of using this non-contact optical technique to rapidly identify prospective materials. After a brief introduction of the TRTS technique, we summarize our results from relative mobility measurements of the organic semiconductor polymers poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and poly(2,5-bis(3-tetradecylthiophen-2yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (PBTTT) as model active layers in transistor devices. We also synopsize our recent results from relative efficiency studies of blend and alternating multilayer films of zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) and buckminsterfullerene (C(60)) as model active nanolayers for efficient solar cells.

Sol-Gel processing of organically modified ITO thin films and characterization of their optoelectronic and microstructural properties
Kesim, Mehmet Tümerkan; Durucan, Caner; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2012)
Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were formed on glass substrates by sol-gel method. Coating sols were prepared using indium chloride tetrahydrate (InCl3•4H2O) and tin-chloride pentahydrate (SnCl4•5H2O) stabilized in organic solvents (acetylacetone and ethanol). First attempt was to synthesize ITO thin films using standard/unmodified coating sols. The effect of calcination treatment in air (300 – 600 °C) and number of coating layer(s) (1, 4, 7 or 10) on optoelectronic properties (electrical conductivity and...
Optical and structural characterization of mixed halide perovskite thin films by thermal co-evaporation
Yılmaz, Onur; Turan, Raşit; Yerci, Selçuk; Department of Physics (2016)
Cost-effective, easy-to-produce, optically and electrically configurable properties of perovskite allow researchers to perform a profound investigation to better understand its physical and chemical nature. Additionally, band gap tunability by introducing bromide (Br) to replace iodine (I) also makes perovskite a suitable material for tandem solar cells. However, to fully benefit from perovskite cells, hysteresis in current-voltage curve, poor stability and relatively low fill factor in large area devices n...
Electrical Characterization of ZnInSe2/Cu0.5Ag0.5InSe2 Thin-Film Heterojunction
Gullu, H. H.; Parlak, Mehmet (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-05-01)
ZnInSe2/Cu0.5Ag0.5InSe2 diode structures have been fabricated by thermal evaporation of stacked layers on indium tin oxide-coated glass substrates. Temperature-dependent dark current-voltage measurements were carried out to extract the diode parameters and to determine the dominant conduction mechanisms in the forward- and reverse-bias regions. The heterostructure showed three order of magnitude rectifying behavior with a barrier height of 0.72 eV and ideality factor of 2.16 at room temperature. In the high...
