An experiment (mixture) design was created to optimize the process parameters of the electrochemical reduction of CaWO4 to W in molten CaCl2-NaCl eutectic mixture. Temperature, applied voltage and the length of Kanthal wire winding of the CaWO4 pellets were selected as the process parameters that were allowed to vary between the predetermined minimum and maximum values. The rates of the electrochemical reductions were interpreted from the variations of current and total charge vs. time graphs under different conditions. The analysis pointed out that 640 degrees C and 2.81 V resulted in the fastest reduction. Itwas seen that the effect of Kanthal wire winding on the output current was less pronounced when compared to the other two parameters.

Discrete approaches in evolution strategies based optimum design of steel frames
Hasançebi, Oğuzhan (2007-05-30)
The three different approaches (reformulations) of evolution strategies (ESs) have been proposed in the literature as extensions of the technique for solving discrete problems. This study implements an extensive research on application, evaluation and comparison of them in discrete optimum design of steel frames. A unified formulation is first developed to explain these approaches, so that differences and similarities between their inherent search mechanisms can clearly be identified. Two examples from prac...
Stibine preconcentration in a quartz trap with subsequent atomization in the quartz multiatomizer for atomic absorption spectrometry
Korkmaz, D; Dedina, J; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (2004-02-01)
A preliminary evaluation of a simple (bare) quartz tube trap for collection of SbH3 and for volatilization of trapped analyte with subsequent atomization in a multiple microflame quartz tube atomizer (multiatomizer) for atomic absorption spectrometry is presented. The influence of relevant experimental parameters on the collection/volatilization efficiency was investigated. The parameters studied Were: collection temperature and time, volatilization temperature and flow rates of air and hydrogen for the vol...
Effect of hot isostatic pressing on densification, microstructure, and electrical properties of 0.95MgTiO3-0.05CaTiO3 ceramic
Güntop, Selin; Öztürk, Abdullah; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2023-1-20)
The effect(s) of hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) on densification, microstructure, and electrical properties of pressureless sintered 0.95MgTiO3-0.05CaTiO3 (M0.95CT) ceramic was researched. M0.95CT ceramic was prepared by the mixed oxide method. The powder mixture of the oxide components in appropriate molar ratios was compacted in a stainless steel die by uniaxial action pressing. The square shaped compacts with nominal dimensions of 35 mm in size and 4 mm in thickness were pressureless sintered in air at ...
Light mesons: pi, eta, and omega and exotic low mass meson production at intermediate energies in nucleon-nucleon scattering

The reaction (p) over barp-->ppX was studied at three energies (T-p=1520, 1805, and 2100 MeV) and at several angles between 0 degrees and 17 degrees in the lab. The analyzing powers and differential cross sections of light meson production, X = pi, eta, and omega, were measured. The c.m. angular range varied between 0 degrees and 180 degrees where the incident energy combined with the experimental acceptance allow both forward and backward kinematical solutions. A theoretical analysis based on s-channel con...
Systems thinking skills of preschool children in early childhood education contexts of Turkey and Germany
Feriver Gezer, Şebnem; Olgan, Refika; Teksöz, Gaye; Department of Early Childhood Education (2018)
The goal of this thesis is two-fold. The first goal is to conceptualize nature of the systems thinking skills of 4- to 6-year-old preschool children. Accordingly, an individual story reading and interview session was realized with 52 Turkish and German children. Then the nature of the children’s systems thinking skills were conceptualized by making use of a developmental rubric which was created as part of this study. The second goal of this study is to explore potential educational contextual key variables...
