Glucose determination based on a two component self-assembled monolayer functionalized surfaceenhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) probe

In this report, we present a new detection method for blood glucose, using gold nanorod SERS, a surface enhanced Raman scattering probe embedded in two component self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Gold nanorod particles and a gold coated slide surface were modified with the two component SAMs consisting of 3-mercaptophenylboronic acid (3-MBA) and 1-decanethiol (1-DT). The immobilization of 3-MBA/1-DT surface-functionalized gold nanoparticles onto 3-MBA/1-DT modified gold-coated slide surfaces was achieved by...

Glucose isomerase production on a xylan-based medium by Bacillus thermoantarcticus
Çalık, Pınar; Haykir, Nazife Isik; BOYACI, İSMAİL HAKKI (Elsevier BV, 2009-01-15)
Effects of medium components on intracellular glucose isomerase (GI) production were investigated by Bacillus thermoantarcticus. The highest GI activity was obtained as 1630 U dm(-3) in the medium containing (g dm(-3)): 10.6, birchwood-xylan: 5.6, yeast extract: 5.9 (NH(4))(2)SO(4) at T = 55 C in 33 cm(-3) shake-flasks. When birchwood-xylan was replaced with oat spelt- or beechwood-xylan, GI activity decreased to 1372 and 1308 U dm(-3). respectively. Effects of pH at uncontrolled-pH (pH(UC) = 6.0) and contr...
Glucose electrooxidation modelling studies on carbon nanotube supported Pd catalyst with response surface methodology and density functional theory

© 2022 Elsevier LtdIn this study, carbon nanotube supported Pd catalysts (Pd/CNT) are synthesized at different weight percentages by the sodium borohydride (NaBH4) reduction method to investigate catalytic performance of glucose electrooxidation reaction. 0.5% Pd/CNT, 3% Pd/CNT, and 7% Pd/CNT catalysts are characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), and N2 adsorption-desorption measurements. The average particle size and surface area of 3% Pd/C...
Glucose-Responsive Trehalose Hydrogel for Insulin Stabilization and Delivery
Lee, Juneyoung; Ko, Jeong Hoon; Mansfield, Kathryn M.; Nauka, Peter C.; Bat, Erhan; Maynard, Heather D. (Wiley, 2018-05-01)
Effective delivery of therapeutic proteins is important for many biomedical applications. Yet, the stabilization of proteins during delivery and long-term storage remains a significant challenge. Herein, a trehalose-based hydrogel is reported that stabilizes insulin to elevated temperatures prior to glucose-triggered release. The hydrogel is synthesized using a polymer with trehalose side chains and a phenylboronic acid end-functionalized 8-arm poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). The hydroxyls of the trehalose sid...
