Development of a learning management system requires a multidisciplinary approach and comparison of instructors' adoption in different departments towards system use is one of the most important targets to be considered. The purpose of this study is to identify the salient factors related with the instructors' adoption of learning management system and to reveal the differences between Engineering and Arts and Science and Education instructors' intention towards the use of system. The result of this study will help researchers; in the context of whether they should consider the departmental differences or not when developing, implementing and providing continuous improvement for learning management systems.

A Structural Model for Students' Adoption of Learning Management Systems: An Empirical Investigation in the Higher Education Context
FINDIK COŞKUNÇAY, Duygu; Alkis, Nurcan; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2018-04-01)
With the recent advances in information technologies, Learning Management Systems have taken on a significant role in providing educational resources. The successful use of these systems in higher education is important for the implementation, management and continuous improvement of e-learning services to increase the quality of learning. This study aimed to identify the factors affecting higher education students' behavioral intention towards Learning Management Systems. A research model was proposed base...
Work in Progress - A Modified Technology Acceptance Model for E-Assessment: Intentions of Engineering Students to Use Web-Based Assesment Tools
Alkis, Nurcan; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2010-10-30)
With the usage of information technologies in education field, e-assessment that uses information technology to assess students learning started to become popular. Web-based testing, a type of e-assessment, seems to have advantages when compared to traditional testing, like costing, reliability, ease of use etc. Although it seems to have advantages, students' intentions to use web-based assessment tools are needed to be researched to identify the factors that affect students' acceptance of such technologies...
Multi-dimensional students' evaluation of e-learning systems in the higher education context: An empirical investigation
Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2009-12-01)
There has been little research on assessment of learning management systems (LMS) within educational organizations as both a web-based learning system for e-learning and as a supportive tool for blended learning environments. This study proposes a conceptual e-learning assessment model, hexagonal e-learning assessment model (HELAM) suggesting a multi-dimensional approach for LMS evaluation via six dimensions: (1) system quality, (2) service quality, (3) content quality, (4) learner perspective, (5) instruct...
A model for instructors' adoption of learning management systems: Empirical Validation in higher education context
Findik Coşkunçay, Duygu; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2013-04-01)
Through the rapid expansion of information technologies, Learning Management Systems have become one of the most important innovations for delivering education. However, successful implementation and management of these systems are primarily based on the instructors' adoption. In this context, this study aims to understand behavioral intentions of higher education instructors towards Learning Management Systems and further to identify the influencing factors. A multidimensional research model has been propo...
Multi-dimensional evaluation of e-learning systems in the higher education context: empirical investigations
Köseler, Refika; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Department of Information Systems (2009)
There has been little research on assessment of learning management systems (LMS) within educational organizations as both a web-based learning system for e-learning and as a supportive tool for blended learning environments. This study proposes a conceptual e-learning assessment model, HELAM (Hexagonal e-Learning Assessment Model) suggesting a multi-dimensional approach for LMS evaluation via six dimensions: (1) system quality, (2) service quality, (3) information (content) quality, (4) learner perspective...
