Decomposition of Ge2H6 on the Si(100)(2x1) surface

2003-08-01
The decomposition of Ge2H6 on Si(100)(2 x 1) was investigated on different adsorption models of fragments using the density functional theory method. The most probable adsorption models of fragments for low and high surface coverage of Ge2H6 have been obtained by geometry optimization and single value relative energy calculations. It has been found that, Ge2H4 makes a bridge between the adjacent surface dimers, Ge2H5-H is bound to the same dimer bond with an unbroken Ge-Ge bond in Ge2H6, and two GeH3 stick to the same surface dimer bond by a broken Ge-Ge bond in Ce2H6. The parallel dimer bond structure of Si(100) was conserved in these models after geometry optimization.

Decomposition of SiH4 on the S-A type stepped Si(100) surface
Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (2002-06-01)
The density functional theory method is used to explore the mechanism of dissociative adsorption of silane (SiH4) on the S-A type stepped Si(100) surface. Two reaction paths are described that produce silyl (Sills) and hydrogen atom fragments adsorbed on the dimer bonds present on each terrace. It has been found that the initial stage of the dissociation of SiH4 on the SA type stepped Si(100) surface shows similarity to the dissociation of SiH4 on the flat Si(100) surface; SiH3 and hydrogen fragments bond t...
Decomposition of CH4 on S-A type stepped Si(100) surface
Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (2002-06-30)
Density functional theory method is used to explore the mechanism of dissociative adsorption of methane (CH4) on SA type stepped Si(100) surface. Two reaction paths are described that produce CH3 and hydrogen atom fragments adsorbed on the dimer bonds present on each terraces. It has been found that, in the initial stage of the carbonization of stepped Si(100) surface, the CH3 and H fragments bound to the Si dimer atoms by following the first reaction path.
Investigation of ruthenium-copper bimetallic catalysts for direct epoxidation of propylene: A DFT study
Kizilkaya, Ali Can; Senkan, Selim; Önal, Işık (2010-09-01)
Propylene epoxidation reactions are carried out on Ru-Cu(1 1 1) and Cu(1 1 1) surfaces with periodic density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Ru-Cu(1 1 1) surface is modeled as Cu(1 1 1) monolayer totally covering the Ru(0 0 0 1) surface underneath, in accordance with the literature. It is shown that the Ru-Cu(1 1 1) surface is ineffective for propylene oxide formation since it has a lower energy barrier (0.48 eV) for the stripping of the allylic hydrogen of propylene and a higher energy barrier (0.92 ...
Adsorption sites of the products of GeH4 on asymmetric Si(100)(2 x 1) surface
Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2004-03-30)
The decomposition of GeH4 on Si(100)(2 x 1) was investigated on different adsorption models of fragments using density functional theory method. The most probable adsorption model of fragments corresponding to the growth steps of SiGe film has been obtained by geometry optimization and single value total energy calculations. The relative adsorption energies of GeH3, GeH2 and GeH have been found to be -5.6, -5.1, and -4.5 eV for their most probable adsorption models respectively. It has been found that, the ...
Structure and stability of GenCm-n clusters
Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (2003-07-04)
Density functional theory method has been used to predict the structural and energetic properties of GenCm-n (n = l,m = 3-14; n = 2,m = 4-15) isomers. The optimized stable structures have been found to be linear(chain) for all GenCm-n(n = I, m = 3-9; n = 2, m = 4-10) clusters and planar(ring) for all GenCm-1 (n = 1,m = 10-14; n = 2, m = 11-15) isomers. It has been also found that the GenCm-n (n = 1, m = 3-14; n = 2, m = 4-15) clusters with odd m are more stable than those with even m.
