Bu makale 27 Mayıs 1960 askeri müdahalesinin Anadolu’da nasıl deneyimlendiğini anlamaya yönelik bir çabayı içeriyor. 27 Mayıs ile ilgili çalışmalarda genellikle ihmal edilen Anadolu deneyimini, müdahale gününden 1 Ocak 1961’e kadar olan kısa dönemde inceliyoruz. Örneklemimizi üç il oluşturuyor: Bursa, Erzurum ve Gaziantep. Bu illerde neler yaşandığını anlayabilmek için en verimli kaynaklardan olduğunu düşündüğümüz yerel gazeteleri sözü edilen dönem içerisinde inceliyoruz. Toplamda taranan 6 gazeteden elde ettiğimiz sonuçlara göre, 27 Mayıs’a ilişkin egemen bazı genellemelerimizi gözden geçirmemiz gerekiyor. Bulgularımız, 27 Mayıs’ın taşrada kimler tarafından benimsendiğini ortaya çıkarmakla kalmıyor, çok çeşitli benimsenme –ve sonrasında benimsetme– usullerini de görünür kılıyor. Yalnız askeri yönetimin değil, yerel yöneticilerin, elitlerin, gönüllü dernek ve kuruluşların bu süreçteki faaliyetlerini tespit edebiliyoruz. Dahası, 27 Mayıs sonrasında Anadolu’ya yönelik yoğun, kapsamlı ve programlı propagandanın niteliği ve aktörlerine yönelik bilgi edinebiliyor, aynı zamanda 27 Mayıs’a muhalefetin engellenme gayretlerini de öğrenebiliyoruz. Son olarak, Anadolu’da 27 Mayıs’a karşı tepki ve protestoların küçük de olsa varlığı ve devamlılığını ortaya koyabiliyoruz. Dolayısıyla, 27 Mayıs’a karşı bir hareket ya da protesto olmadığı yönündeki genel kabulü yeniden düşünmemiz için de bu çalışma bir araç olabiliyor.
