Yapılan alan çalışmaları genel olarak incelendiğinde, SKE üzerine inançların araştırılmasında önemli bir nedenin öğretmenlerin inaçlarının sınıf içindeki faaliyetleri hakkında gösterge niteliğinde olmasının (Boz & Uzuntiryaki 2006), SK ile ilgili değerler üzerinde yapılan çalışmalarda ise SK amaçlarına ulaşmak için insanların değerlerinde değişmelerin meydana gelmesinin gerekliliğinin (Leiserowitz, Kates, & Paris, 2006) altının çizildiği görülür. Bu çalışmalarda ayrıca sahip olunan değerlerin ve inançların farklı kültürlerde nasıl değişitiğinin anlaşılması için farklı coğrafyalarda tekrarlanması gerekliliğine vurgu yapılmaktadır.
