Two new bis(diphenylphosphino)isopropylphenylamines, (PPh(2))(2)N-C(6)H(4)-CH(CH(3))(2), having the isopropyl substituent at the carbon atom 2 (1) or 4 (2), were prepared by the aminolysis of chlorodiphenylphosphine with isopropyl substituted aniline at the ortho- or para-position, respectively, under anaerobic conditions. Oxidation of 1 and 2 with either aqueous hydrogen peroxide, elemental sulfur or grey selenium in thf gave the corresponding oxides, sulfides and selenides (Ph(2)P=E)(2)N-C(6)H(4)-CH(CH(3))(2), where E = O, S or Se, respectively. The palladium and platinum complexes [M{(Ph(2)P)(2)N-C(6)H(4)-CH(CH(3))(2))Cl(2)] (M = Pd, Pt) and the copper complex [Cu((Ph(2)P)(2)N-C(6)H(4)-CH(CH(3))(2))(2)]PF(6) were isolated from the reaction of the bis(phosphino)anilines with MCl(2)(cod) or [Cu(CH(3)CN)(4)]PF(6), respectively. The new compounds were characterized by NMR, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Furthermore, the solid-state structures of two representative complexes were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The compounds of palladium (1d) and platinum (1e), both mononuclear complexes, crystallize in the monoclinic P2(1)/c space group. In both compounds the metal ion has a distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The structural properties of complexes Id and le in the solid state are very similar. The palladium complexes were also tested for their catalytic activities in C-C coupling reactions.

Synthesis and characterizations of 3,3 '-bis(diphenylphosphinoamine)-2,2 '-bipyridine and 3,3 '-bis(diphenylphosphinite)-2,2 '-bipyridine and their chalcogenides
Baysal, Akin; Aydemir, Murat; Durap, Feyyaz; Guemguem, Bahattin; Özkar, Saim; Yildirim, Leyla Tatar (2007-08-06)
New bis(phosphinoamine) and bis(phosphinite) derivatives of 2,2'-bipyridine were prepared through a single step reaction of 3,3'-diamino-2,2'-bipyridine or 3,3'-dihydroxy-2,2'-bipyridine with diphenylehlorophosphine, respectively. Their P = E chalcogenides (E = 0, S, Se) were also prepared. All the new compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectroscopies. The molecular structure of 3.3'-bis(diphenylthiophosphinite)-2,2'-bipyridine was elucidated by single-crystal X-ray crystallograp...
Substitution kinetics of W(CO)(5)(eta(2)-bis(trimethylsilyl)ethyne) with triphenylbismuthine
Bayram, Ercan; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2006-07-15)
The labile complex W(CO)(5)(eta(2)-btmse) undergoes replacement of bis(trimethylsilyl)ethyne, btmse, by triphenylbismuthine in cyclohexane solution at an observable rate in the temperature range of 35-50 degrees C yielding almost solely W(CO)(5)(BiPh3) as the final product. The kinetics of this substitution reaction was studied in cyclohexane solution by quantitative FT-IR spectroscopy. The substitution reaction obeys a pseudo-first-order kinetics with respect to the concentration of the starting complex. T...
Substitution kinetics of Cr(CO)(5)(eta(2)-Z-cyclooctene) with tetracyanoethylene
Kozanoglu, F; Saldamli, S; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2002-09-16)
The weakly bound Z-cyclooctene (zco) ligand in Cr(CO)(5)(eta(2)-zco) is replaced by tetracyanoethylene (tcne) at an observable rate in the temperature range between - 5 and + 10 degreesC yielding the complex Cr(CO)(5)(eta(2)-tcne) as the final product The kinetics of this substitution reaction was studied in toluene solution containing 5% by volume zco by quantitative FTIR spectroscopy The substitution reaction obeys a pseudo-first order kinetics with respect to the concentration of the starting complex. POLYMERIZATION OF BIS(TRICHLOROPHENOXO) ETHYLENEDIAMINE COPPER (II) COMPLEX BY ELECTRO-OXIDATION
Yiğit, S.; Kısakürek, D.; Türker, L; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Akbulut, Ural (Elsevier BV, 1989-02-01)
Electroinitiated polymerization of bis(trichlorophenoxo) ethylenediamine copper (II) complex was carried out in dimethyl-formamide at various anodic peak potentials of the complex. The oxidation and reduction peak potentials were determined by cyclic voltammetry. These potentials were measured in tetrabutylammonium fluoroborate-dimethylformamide supporting electrolyte-solvent couple at room temperature. Polymerization reactions were carried out under air and nitrogen atmospheres using a constant potential a...
DISPLACEMENT KINETICS OF 1,5-CYCLOOCTADIENE FROM MO(CO)4(ETA(2-2)-1,5-CYCLOOCTADIENE) BY BIS(DIPHENYLPHOSPHINO)METHANE
TEKKAYA, A; KAYRAN, C; Özkar, Saim; KREITER, CG (American Chemical Society (ACS), 1994-05-25)
The kinetics of the thermal substitution of 1,5-cyclooctadiene (COD) from [Mo(CO)4(eta2:2-COD)] (1) by bis-(diphenylphosphino)methane (DPPM) and the formation of [Mo(CO)4(DPPM)] (6) was studied by quantitative FT-IR spectroscopy. The reaction rate exhibits first-order dependence on the concentration of 1, and the observed rate constant, k(obs), depends on the concentrations of both leaving COD and entering DPPM ligand. From the evaluation of data collected, one can propose a mechanism in which the rate-dete...
