Data obtained by a questionnaire were analyzed to explore relationships between variables related to Turkish childrens academic performance. The results indicated that parents' education level, sociometric measures of insecure attachment, and social efficacy were significant predictors of grade point average. Parents' education also emerged as a significant predictor of insecure attachment and social efficacy. In addition, endorsement of secure and insecure attachment prototypes were significant predictors of social efficacy and perceptions of control. Results are discussed within the framework of contextual models of development.
