Evaluation of Integrated Pollution Prevention Control in a textile fiber production and dyeing mill
Ozturk, Emrah; KARABOYACI, Mustafa; Yetiş, Ülkü; YİĞİT, Nevzat Özgü; KİTİŞ, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2015-02-01)
Cleaner production assessment studies were conducted in a textile mill employing wool and acrylic fiber production and subsequent dyeing. A company-wide mass-balance analysis was performed. Various specific consumptions, emissions and waste generations were determined. The performance of the mill was evaluated based on BREF Documents. Water quality analysis indicated that process wastewaters from wool yarn softening, LP-VP printing machines and acrylic yarn washing could be reused in these processes, even w...

EVALUATION OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC MEASURES FOR MASS TRANSPORTATION IN ANKARA
Shahin, Hind; Yetişkul Şenbil, Emine; Department of Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments (2021-7)
COVID-19 was labeled a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by WHO on the 30th of January 2020. Countries enacted measures to curb the spread of the virus, many of which resulted in limiting peoples’ mobility; mass transportation systems worldwide took the hardest hit. Thus, research emerged on the impact of COVID-19 on mass transit systems worldwide. This thesis analyzes COVID-19’s effect on Ankara’s mass transit through detailing the measures taken by the city and the effects those decisions ...
Evaluation of reference modeling for building performance assessment
Gürsel Dino, İpek (2014-04-15)
Lifecycle building performance assessment (LBPA) practices are being increasingly applied on existing buildings to ensure that performance requirements are fulfilled during building service-life. LBPA is a multi-disciplinary and information-intense process that requires computational tools for information management and decision support. We have previously developed a computational reference model (CLIP-Core) that supports various component-based LBPA practices. When CLIP-Core is considered to be used, it n...
Evaluation of punching shear strength design and modelling approaches for slab-column connections
Zorlu, Merve; Binici, Barış; Department of Civil Engineering (2012)
Flat plate systems are constructed with slabs directly supported on columns. Since there are no beams in the system, the behavior of connections between the slabs and columns play a crucial role. Due to the sudden and brittle nature of punching shear failures, slab-column connection design must be conducted with proper safety precautions. The first part of this study aims to evaluate the safety level of different design expressions in the codes. Fir this purpose, the ability of ACI 318-11, TS-500 and Euroco...
