In this paper, multi-level cascaded Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is proposed using a novel converter having reduced number of switches. STATCOM is analyzed by using DSP and Matlab, interactively. The level shifted carrier based SPWM method, instantaneous single phase active (P) and reactive (Q) power algorithms are applied to control this converters. The performance of STATCOM is investigated for unbalanced reactive load conditions. The simulation results of Matlab alone and Matlab interactively operated with DSP TMS320F28335 are presented.

A Control Method to Enhance Dynamic Performance of Parallel Inverters in Islanded Microgrid
Kohansal, M.; Moghani, J. S.; Abdi, B.; Gharehpetian, G. B. (2011-09-10)
A new method for the power sharing in parallel inverters is proposed in this paper. The power calculation unit of the conventional droop is improved to obtain fast transient response. The reduction of the circulating current between inverters during system dynamics is one of the advantages of this method. Also, the proposed control method has a good dynamic performance and power sharing. The simulation results are presented to prove the validity and the improvements achieved by the proposed controller.
A Single Phase AC-AC Boost Converter With Improved Input Power Factor and THD
Kabir, Md. Ashfanoor; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Mustafiz, Rubiya Binta; İslam, Muhammed Qamarul; Choudhury, M. A. (2011-09-10)
A new circuit is proposed for single phase AC-AC conversion using Boost topology. Input Power factor, input current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and efficiency of the circuit are examined for the proposed circuit for different duty cycles. As the output is boosted pwm chopped in ac supply, the voltage gain of the converter has both Buck and Boost characteristics. A single bidirectional switch is used for power conversion and results show good performance. Analysis and simulation results for the circuit a...
A Simple and Novel Modulation Technique Used to Obtain Output Voltage Having a Frequency Multiple of Input Voltage Frequency
Salimi, A.; Mansourpour, S.; Ziar, H.; Afjei, E. (2011-09-10)
This paper introduces a new modulation method that can be adopted to obtain various possible output voltages depending on the switching topology and the voltage inputs available. This method is used to obtain a sinusoidal voltage waveform with a frequency which is a multiple of the frequency of the sinusoidal input voltage. There are various applications that need a variable frequency input and a limitation is that three-phase supply is not always available. A good example to this would be single-phase indu...
A wired-AND current-mode logic circuit technique in CMOS for low-voltage, high-speed and mixed-signal VLSIC
Ungan, IE; Askar, M(1997-09-01)
A wired-AND current-mode logic (WCML) circuit technique in CMOS technology for low-voltage and high-speed VLSI circuits is proposed, and a WCML cell library is developed using standard 0.8 micron CMOS process. The proposed WCML technique applies the analog circuit design methodologies to the digital circuit design, The input and output logic signals are represented by current quantities. The supply current of the logic circuit is adjustable for the required logic speed and the switching noise level. The noi...
A Novel Input Impedance Computation Method for Coaxial Probe Fed Microstrip Antennas by Utilizing Characteristic Modes
Cetin, Metehan; Alatan, Lale (2017-07-14)
A method to efficiently compute the input impedance of the coaxial probe fed microstrip antennas by using characteristic modes is proposed in this paper. The efficiency is achieved by defining a discontinuous source current at the feed location that models the current injected by the probe. The input impedance is simply expressed in terms of modal excitation coefficients and eigenvalues of each mode.
