YAZ, Mehmet
Titanium diboride (TiB2) particulate reinforced Fe-based alloy composite coating was produced with ferrotitaniurn (FeTi), ferroboron (FeB), ferrotungsten (FeW), ferrochromium (FeCr), ferrovanadium (FeV) and ferromolybdenum (FeMo) powders by using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) process. The effects of GTAW processing on the microstructure of AISI-4340 alloy coating with ferro-alloy powders were investigated experimentally. Abrasive wear tests were performed on the coated surface of samples to examine the influence of vol% and the size of boride on wear rates. Depending on the results, it was seen that the samples coated by FeTi-FeW-FeB ferro-alloy powders mixture have the highest wear resistance. Crown Copyright (C) 2009 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Suitable alkaline for graphene peeling grown on metallic catalysts using chemical vapor deposition
KARAMAT, SHUMAİLA; Sonusen, S.; ÇELİK, ÜMİT; UYSALLI, YİĞİT; Oral, Ahmet (Elsevier BV, 2016-04-15)
In chemical vapor deposition, the higher growth temperature roughens the surface of the metal catalyst and a delicate method is necessary for the transfer of graphene from metal catalyst to the desired substrates. In this work, we grow graphene on Pt and Cu foil via ambient pressure chemical vapor deposition (AP-CVD) method and further alkaline water electrolysis was used to peel off graphene from the metallic catalyst. We used different electrolytes i.e., sodium hydroxide (NaOH), potassium hydroxide (KOH),...
Production of in situ aluminum-titanium diboride master alloy formed by slag-metal reaction
CHANGIZI, Ahmad; Kalkanlı, Ali; SEVINC, NACİ (Elsevier BV, 2011-01-12)
Al-TiB(2) master alloys have received much attention in recent years owing to their potential as efficient grain refiners for aluminum foundry alloys. In this study, the process of production of master alloys was investigated to develop a low cost method, namely, slag-metal reaction. This method can be used to fabricate Al-TiB2 master alloy in situ from the TiO(2)-H(3)BO(3)-Na(3)AlF(6) and Al system. Since the price of the raw materials is low and the technology is simple, the processing technique appears t...
Study of high radio frequency plasma discharge effects on carbon fiber using Raman spectroscopy
Akbar, D.; Erözbek Güngör, Ümmügül (Elsevier BV, 2014-02-15)
The goal of this research is to evaluate the potential of single and dual high RF reactors for the treatment of carbon fiber by Raman and FT-IR spectroscopies. Unsized poly-acrylonitrile (PAN) carbon fiber was treated with single high frequency (40.68 MHz) and double radio frequency capacitively coupled plasma (RF-CCP) discharge reactor (40.68/2.1 MHz) using pure nitrogen gas. The changes in the structure of the carbon fiber surfaces due to the variations of the D and G band intensity ratio (I-D/I-G), cryst...
Preparation and characterization of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene and polyisoprene solvent-cast blend films
Akinay, AE; Tincer, T (Wiley, 1998-02-28)
This study covers the preparation of noncrosslinked and crosslinked solvent-cast blend films of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and polyisoprene rubber (PIR) and their mechanical, thermal, IR spectroscopic, and morphological characterizations. Solvent-cast films of polymer blends with 0, 10, 20, 35, 50, and 65% PIR composition were prepared by vigorous stirring from a hot decalin solution. The films were crosslinked chemically by using acetophenone as a crosslinking agent under UV radiation...
Effects of Different Denture Cleansers on the Tensile Bond Strength of Denture Liners
DEMİR, HAKAN; SOYGUN, KORAY; Bolayir, Giray; DOĞAN, ARİFE; Keskin, Selda; DOĞAN, ORHAN MURAT (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
The effect of two denture cleansers (Polident (R) and Protefix (R)) on the tensile bond strength between four soft liner materials (Molloplast B (R), Permaflex (R), Sofreliner Tough Medium (R), and GC Reline Soft (R)) and a conventional denture base resin was investigated. For each of the liner materials 35 test specimens were prepared according to test the requirements and assigned into seven groups (n=5). Before tensile testing, five of the liner specimens were kept in water or soaked in two cleansing sol...
