A knowledge-based economy which focuses on the production and management of knowledge uses innovation as the main driver of the economic growth in order to be competitive in the global market. The triple helix model of innovation which is based on the interactions between government, university and industry creates an environment to foster knowledge-based economic development. The main objective of this thesis is to examine the success factors of UniversityIndustry-Government collaboration in Rotary Wing Technology Center-RWTC (Döner Kanat Teknoloji Merkezi-DKTM) in Turkey. This aim will be achieved by answering the main research questions in the field of Rotorcraft technologies: How does RWTC transfer the know-how generated in the universities to the industry?; How does RWTC contribute to creating skilled human resource needed in the v industry?; How does RWTC promote the sustainability processes in the industry? Based on google scholar database, there is no study that has explored the triple helix model in the context of a thematic technology center in defence industry in Turkey. By using qualitative data collected from interviews with experts such as academicians, policy makers, researchers, State and company directors and analyses of statistical data about RWTC survey conducted to researchers worked in RWTC projects, this study evaluates the technology transfer on critical technologies through University-Industry-Government collaboration model in one of the priority areas of defence industry in Turkey. As a conclusion, policy implications that improve the existing model further and could also be applied to other defence industry areas are derived.

Technical change and efficiency in Turkish manufacturing industries
Taymaz, Erol (1997-11-01)
Technical progress and production efficiency are central to economic growth and international competitiveness. However, these topics received little attention in Less Developed Countries. This study is the first attempt to measure and to understand the extent and importance of technical progress and efficiency in Turkish manufacturing industries. Stochastic production frontiers for Turkish textile, cement, and motor vehicles industries are estimated by using panel data of plants for the years 1987 to 1992. ...
The Impact of technology level and structural change of exports on the dynamics of international competitiveness : a sctoral disaggregated analysis of Turkish manufacturing sector
Şahan, Fatih; Pamukcu, Mehmet Teoman; Department of Economics (2012)

In the first step, constant market share analysis is conducted to understand the causes of changes in export market shares from one period to another and in the second step a difference generalized method of moments m...
The impact of R&D and knowledge diffusion on the productivity of manufacturing firms in Turkey
Ulku, Hulya; Pamukcu, Mehmet Teoman (2015-08-01)
As the experiences of newly industrialized economies have shown, R&D and knowledge diffusion can play a crucial role in spurring the innovation capacity and productivity of emerging economies. Using firm level manufacturing data from 2003 to 2007, this paper investigates whether R&D intensity and various channels of knowledge diffusion affect productivity in Turkey-one of the fastest-growing emerging economies of the past decade. We find that an increase in the foreign ownership share in firms and technolog...

A Case Study of Using Innovation Catcher as an Innovation Performance Assessment Framework for Housing Projects
Bilgin, Pınar; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (2020-11-14)
The crucial role of innovation in improving or even maintaining the strategic position and competitive advantage of construction companies in a highly competitive industry is widely acknowledged. In this sense, construction companies are spending a substantial amount of money and time on innovation activities. However, an in-depth literature review showed that available innovation assessment frameworks are not capable of revealing the outputs of these investments and capturing the actual innovation performa...
